Yes, you are…LOL…Although this thread makes ME feel old. I remember about 17 or 18 years ago, (93/94) we had an assembly with a WWI vet when I was in jr high.

I remember WWI vets, too. They seemed happy: maybe because happy people live longer, or because their war, though it had a higher number of deaths-per-day than subsequent US wars, only lasted a short while. Though there was one old grouch, a retired railroad worker, who angrily refused my bid to shovel his driveway for a measly fifty cents.

For perspective, the last of Napoleon’s soldiers died when Frank Buckles was one year old. Kurt Cobain lived only a little more than one year past the last veteran of the Spanish American War.
