I don’t know what’s going on here but we’ve had a bunch of them lately. I know this is one of the most active regions for earthquakes in the world, but still…
So last night at about this same time (around midnight) I was sitting in this same room when I felt this huge thud like the ground was falling from under me. I hoped it was just one of the kids waking up and dropping something heavy in their room though I doubted they could make that much of a thud, being 2 and 3. Then the shaking started. I ran into the bedroom and my husband woke up and it ended after like 30 seconds. So I went back in this room and aboiut three minutes later, the shaking started AGAIN. Worse than the 1st time! It seemed impossible to have two so close together. Most people consider it to be one really long one that stopped then started again.
In the last week we’ve had about 2 or three others, too. We usually go many months between having earthquakes big enough to feel…supposedly Japan gets thousands per year but most of them are too small to notice. It scares me because I hate earthquakes. Growing up in NY I am not used to them, though I did experience 2 in NY in my life.
Ever since the 2 sizable ones last night I keep feeling the building shake again but it’s just my imagination. I live on the top floor of a 9 story building so hopefully we won’t get any bigger ones. I’m here for 2 and a half more years and besides earthquakes, I also have to be concerned about typhoons (we get a lot of those in the summer) and volcanic eruption (not likely, but they still talk about it because it could happen), not to mention what will happen if N. Korea decides to ever do anything.
Fun!
