Free Apple Products FB Page - what's going on?

I’ve seen a lot of my friends entering the competitions on this Facebook page which claims to be regularly giving away hundreds of Apple products.

Thing is, I can’t work out what’s in it for them. They can’t be making money out of the number of likes on their page and I can’t see any other motivation for a company to set up a page like this.

I can think of only the following reasons this might exist:

  1. It’s Apple owned and they are just trying to create excitement for their brand.
  2. Some rich benefactor had decided he/she wants to give people something nice.
  3. They page owners want to build up a huge number of FB followers (likers?) to the page so they can change it to something else or auction the page off.
  4. This is a scam through which you “win” then get asked to send your personal details.

I’d personally discount 1) as ridiculous and 2) as massively unlikely. Anybody else have some theories?

You’ll see tellyworth that this isn’t quite the same as described in your link however it may well be a variant of it.
