Google Maps delays suck!

So I turn on my work Think Pad then click Google Chrome then Google Maps and the aerial view of capital city fills the screen. I type in my desired destination and click it and nothing changes. Try some other destinations. Nothing changes. I go down the hall to young guy to come to my office to fix/or explain. I try again and viola, view changes to the typed destination. Same thing on later bootups. What’s up?
