Free Association

That delicate satin draped frame

Back in the 80s and 90s I had some friends (acquaintances, really, um, distant ones. I mean, I’d never have gone to a Grateful Dead show with these strange folk or anything like that) who would ingest various pharmaceuticals. Some of those chemicals would result in powerful hallucinations (or so I’m told), and a rather common descriptor (one of many) was ‘tripping balls’. This was to distinguish it, from, say, taking MDMA, which some long-lost cousins once referred to as ‘rolling’. (Or maybe it was ‘bowling’, my cousin Roman is such a card.) Anyway, the Free Association word was mouldy bread, which reminded me of mouldy rye bread–bread with a fungus on it, which is a suspect cause behind a lot of the Salem trial kerfuffle. Some of the recreational chemicals that my friend’s frend’s acquaintances would ingest were mushrooms.

Say what again!

“What again!”

“So Vincent…we happy?”

I can’t believe this is the movie quote thread now.

In play:

I can’t believe this is the same car

I can’t believe I ate the whole thing.

Where’s the beef?

It’s on the Royale with cheese, Vincent.
