Yes, I would like to offer one or two Dopers a FREE, one-on-one, personal lesson in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
Basically, what I am looking for are two guinea pigs who will allow me to see how remote learning/teaching will work using software that will allow me to watch you/show you how to use these software programs on your computer at home – one on one. We will be working on the computer together, and we will be talking on the phone. Think of me as your instructor, looking over your shoulder as we go through the program together. (Foreign Dopers welcomed! I can call overseas – to land lines – for no cost.)
These lessons are only for absolute beginners – no prior knowledge of either program, please!
BTW, if you don’t have the Adobe software, that is no huge problem – there is a legal 30 day free trial from Adobe for both of them, but we can discuss that when we get that far.
I have taught these courses often at college, and have a workshop in both that takes about 60-90 minutes each – so after we get set up, we have to find that block of time where we can do this, uninterrupted. That will be it. Just a one time, crash course/workshop – but if you wish, we could have a quick follow up a week or so later to fill in any gaps, or answer any questions you might have after using the programs a bit.
I can pretty much guarantee you will learn the basics of either/both programs!

Again, the guidelines:
- You are an absolute beginner – no prior knowledge.
- You have good Internet connection and either have the Adobe software, or the ability to download the free software (I will explain how you can do this.)
- You have a cell phone in the USA (or land line in foreign country) that we can use to talk at the same time we are using the software to share access so I can see you working on the program.
- You can find about 90 minutes time to do this – I am somewhat flexible on days/time of day.
- You really want to learn how to use either one of these programs and have some real motivation.
So why am I doing this?
Well, I am currently unemployed (but have something on the distant horizon, knock on wood) but would perhaps like to later offer the same services for a small fee, but need to have a couple of “guinea pigs” to try this out first to make sure it all works and that you feel it is/was successful. Besides, I love teaching these workshops and know for a fact that it will get you up and running with the basics.

P.S. We will also be using the free Logmein software that allows me to actually get in and view your computer during the lesson, and also use my mouse to point out things. After we set this up, It does allow me remote access to your computer (just for the lesson!) but if the thought of that freaks you out, perhaps you might want to pass this time around.
