If I complain about one thing and then Diogenes posts something contradictory as it regards another subject on the DailyKos does that make me a hypocrite for complaining about it in the first place? Basically the point being how do you know that the people saying the attacks on Palin’s children might not also be the ones saying that attacks on Malia are distasteful? I am on record on this message board as saying that all attacks on all children are distasteful whether it be Palin, Obama or Chelsea Clinton in the 90s. If someone read my saying that attacks on Malia Obama are in poor taste and some random person read it, they might say we’re all hypocrites because we thought it was ok to attack Palin’s daughters, but that’s not so, I am not a hypocrite because I spoke out about attacks on Palin’s daughters as well.

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. He made a fairly nuanced and reasoned post in Great Debates and I couldn’t wrap my mind around the cognitive dissonance. It’s interesting that he took the name of one of the most detestable cold-warriors around. The human race is lucky that we had people like Albert Wohlstetter to save us from monsters like Curtis LeMay.
Another difference is that if we are referring to the comment by David Letterman, he wasn’t talking trash about Bristol.
The issue isn’t whether there’s dissent in that thread, but whether the same people posting this opinion also posted outrage at the supposed attacks on Palin’s kids (which were ridiculous accusations btw).
If everyone in that thread is of the opinion that insulting kids is fine, then there’s no hypocrisy, just douchebaggery.
