As for what Diogenes asserted, I recall Glenn Reynolds writing at one point recently (paraphrased) “If Obama had been subject to half the negative press Sarah Palin has, he’d run home in tears.”
Speaking of whom, the last time I checked his and a couple other conservative-type blogs, there’s been absolutely nothing written about it. I wonder how those who are generally on FR’s “side” of things are casting this? I mean, I know they’ve condemned/disagreed with them in the past (e.g. many prominent conservative bloggers deploring FR’s assistance in spreading the “Obama is not a citizen” thing as a red herring and waste of time), but it does make me ponder what FR’s general reputation is among those of conservative bent.
Why are you asking me to cite someone else’s opinion? I just brought it up to show that what Diogenes said some people think (apparently, unless I’m misinterpreting Reynolds) IS what some people think.
Ah, gotcha. I should’ve had the link to begin with, but I dreaded looking through the archives trying to find it, with Reynolds’ blog output being what it is.
I should clarify that I went back and reread Dio’s original statement. I don’t believe that Reynolds has ever said anything personally disparaging or racist about either Obama or his family. It was partly my misreading, and I apologize. Though I think the cite is still relevant vis a vis the comparison some make between the treatments of Obama and Palin.
Sometimes, under the influence of too much sugar, and/or linden tea, I am ready to believe that there is a band of jokesters going around the internet, posting on the freepers site, and other such bastions of human intelligence, just to give them a bad name. A really bad name.
After looking at his site, I can’t say I blame you. Though virtually all of his entries are simply links to someone else’s article, with perhaps a sentence of explanation.
“Sprayed his hose”? That sounds like a sexual euphamism.
I agree that Letterman aimed the joke at Bristol but hit the wrong daughter.
Well, a 14 year old having consensual sex with A-Rod, which makes it rape in the statutory sense. Going overboard in the counter assertion just makes the response look intentionally inflammatory.
Bristol has earned the right for tasteless jokes to be told about her. But I agree that calling her a slut and a whore is inappropriate and only makes the accuser an ass.
Why has Bristol earned the right to have tasteless jokes said about her? Because she fucked her HS boyfriend and got knocked up while her Mom was a politician?
