Freezing Bubbles, and other cool stuff

I’d come across this link of freaky stuff: the stuff of dreams
and rather than further derail the thread I’d mentioned one of the sub-links in, I thought I’d post it here for everyone’s enjoyment.

It has clips and stuff on dilatants, auxetic materials, superfluids, ferrofluids, and fun and hijinks with dry ice and liquid nitrogen.

The ferrofluid YouTube clip is particularly neat.

Excellent work. When I was forwarding the “how to freeze bubbles” link to half my address book, I left out the many Dopers – then started thinking, wait, how many of them are reading about the freaking bananas anyway?

I hereby propose this for the Official Science Experiment of Gettysdope IV next fall.
