Can anybody recommend a good book on the French and Indian War? Preferrably one that focuses on Western Pennsylvania, but a general overview would be good also.
I’ve searched a few library databases and get a lot of books but no guidance on what is good and what’s not.
Alternatively you can search for journal articles on the F&I war. If your school has access to jstor ( www.jstor.com ) you might be able to find stuff there.
Hopefully, if this works, this will be my first post. LateComer, here is a URL to the Braddock Road Preservation Association, and there is a Films/Books link on the main page:
I very strongly recommend Crucible of War:* The Seven Years War and the Fate of Empire in British North America, 1754-1766* by Fred Anderson ( 2001, First Vintage Books ). Not just a straight narrative of events ( though the war is well-covered, including some narrative on Pennsylvania in the war ), it is also an excellent analysis of just how pivotal this event was for, among other things, the later American Revolution.
