Do any SDopers who work in RF know if the term “frequency sharing” could refer to use a radio switch to permit many inputs from various sources to be transmitted over the same frequency? I understand this is not the conventional definition, but have some seen it used in this fashion? Also, can a radio switch assign priority if multiple inputs arriving at the radio switch at the same time?
Trunking Systems do this. Users are assigned call groups and higher priority groups override lower priority. The company I work for has a trunking system. The Fire and Security folks are in a call group. The maintenance and such are in a different call group. If the maintenance folks are talking and the security folks key their radios, the maintenance folks are automatically switched to a vacant channel. If none are available, they just get cut off.
