"Fresh Air" shows I have enjoyed

I tried to find a listing of archived Fresh Air programs to listen to, but wasn’t able to.

Instead, I went through their “rundown” and made notes on the shows I want to hear (either again, or for the fist time).

Since that task took a few hours and since I thought there might be some interest here in such a thing, I thought I would share my list.

Please add to it in this thread if you have favorites worth sharing.

‘The Uncensored Story’ Of The Smothers Brothers

I don’t usually get to hear “Fresh Air” much since it is on while I’m at work, but one day about a year or so ago I heard a show with her talking to author Lee Maynard who had just released the third book in his “Crum” trilogy. I had never heard of him or the book(s) before but I found the interview fascinating.
And of course any time she has guitarist Richard Thompson on.

Thanks for that. Here’s a link to two Maynard shows:

And a similar one for Thompson:

Good list. Glad to see I’m not the only one who liked Sacha Baron Cohen’s out-of-Borat-character interview.

I would add Jill Bolte Taylor to the list. TG’s interview with her led me to one of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read.

Fresh Air is available in podcast form; that’s the way I always listen to it. I just subscribed in iTunes and then play them during my commute. The podcast does split the show up into segments (interview, movie reviews, etc.) rather than having the whole hour as one file, which I know annoys some people but is fine with me.

That’s what I do. It’s very easy to see all the topics/guests available at a glance and you can just download the ones you want.

thanks for taking the trouble to post this list - I will listen to any I haven’t heard before.

You’re very welcome. As you can tell I only pick and choose shows with specific people or themes, and most (if not all recently) of my listening to the show is from recordings online at their website. I have spurts of interest, months apart, and like to spend a day or two getting “caught up.”

This time I went to the trouble of paging through the past year and a few months to select programs I’d probably like to hear (in some cases, again) and after that had consumed a fair amount of time I thought it might be of value to others. Thanks for acknowledging that it was of value to you.

An excellent tribute to Roger Ebert:
