Friends: Is the format getting tiresome?

I definately think it is. They should of all got married and moved away and had kids. I know Rachael did and Monica and Chandler got married, but really are they gonna stay single living in a flat until their 50?

Sorry if I’m ranting

“getting” tiresome? I thought it was tiresome 4 years ago.

nope…as long as Jennifer Anniston’s nipples remain perky, I’ll keep watching.

Is that show still on?

They could call it “Jennifer and Monica pick their toe jam” and I would tune in whenever I got the chance.

I enjoy the show. I rarely get to see it. I love Joey and Phoebe.

I stopped watching the show when they’d lived in New York City for two years and never encountered a single African-American, Hispanic or other minority individual in anything other than a one or two line “extra” capacity. I like a little reality in my sitcoms.

Getting old? Noooooooo. I hope it stays on the air ANOTHER nine years!

It used to be funny a few years back, now it’s turned into a damn soap opera, who’s having who’s baby, and who’s gonna marry who.
CRAP

Soon people are going to be having amnesia and plot lines will start all over again. They shouldn’t even pay these saps anymore and take the crap off the air.

It’s format is about as tiresome as Frasier’s (and that’s not meant as a compliment).

I’ve liked Friends through the years but I’m reaching my limit on Monica. The writers and producers have turned her into a one dimensional character. All she does is obsess and whine about something every episode. It is getting really old and very annoying to me. What happened to the cute and funny Monica of the early seasons? Plus can she do anything else to make herself look a little more old and used?

The show is about six white people. Naturally they are the ones on camera the most. They should throw in some token minorities, perhaps? I think tokenism is worse, isn’t it?

Should I have been offended by (or stopped watching) the Cosby show in the 80’s because white people only appeared in an “extra” capacity? Of course not; the show was about a black family.

Anyway, that’s just how I feel.

Back to the original topic… I still enjoy the show, but I must agree with those who say it’s getting a bit too much like a soap opera. When they stick to comedy, it’s still quite entertaining. (Of course, I still love Frasier too, which is pretty strange to some people…)

I like Monica. She is an interesting character, in a tortured sexy way. Few people are good looking enough to be on TV, yet Courtney Cox is able to stay for years. If you prefer younger women, tune your TV to some of the fine shows on the WB network.

too bad they’re fake

You should’ve started this thread with a sex joke, then gone to commercial.

I agree completely. She’s gotten too shrill, and I hate that. At least she looked better this past season. For a couple seasons before that, I don’t think she every washed her hair. It was just a stringy mass around her face.

She looked great in 3000 Miles to Graceland, though.

—Yeah. It is nice to see elderly senior citizens like 38-year-old Courtney, still able to hobble around without their walkers.

Okay, do NOT dis Frasier. It can never die. “Friends” on the other hand…Yeah, I’ll probably still watch, but you know. They are cancelling it after next season. This next one is the last, so I guess they’re aware. It’ll go the way of all shows, the land of reruns.

I agree with nineiron- tokenism is annoying. As Lisa Simpson said, it’s fine to put minorities on TV, but after awhile it’s just pandering. Though I really liked the MAD TV sketch which featured Ross and the gang hyperventilating because he was dating a black woman.

Really?
