Fringe May 6,2011 "The Day We Died" (Season Finale)

Agreed. It’s one of those things that nags me though. FANWANKERY: Despite the similarities, there’s some major difference that would have affected the lives of many of the main character’s ancestors, even if the branching off point was only a few hundred years ago, to the point where it’s highly unlikely that any of the same people would’ve been born. A zeppelin arriving late 65 years ago, could’ve caused a chain reaction that never allowed Walternate to have been born – that is unless the Observers had influence over the course of both histories to make sure certain people existed (which we know they’ve been hanging around for a long while). So, maybe that’s it.

Interesting how the 9/11 attacks still seems to have happened, but instead of the Towers falling, Flight 93 succeeds in hitting the Capitol (ostensibly situated in the combined states of West Virgina and Virgina: The District of Virgina).

Also, they must’ve coated the Statue of Liberty in something to keep the copper from oxidizing. Perhaps I’m biased, but I like its patina.

Right. That map is cool to inspect though. Where’s the rest of California! o_O

ETA: And HEY! Canada took our Upper Peninsula!!!

That was a good read. No real spoilers, per se, just some affirmation on how the writers and producers are handling the story, and what they are aware of from the fan-base, as well as how to make planted seeds (whether fully planned or not) pay off in future episodes.

Sunk into the ocean, I’m guessing.

Also, I wonder since there’s no Washington, D.C. and no Washington state maybe Washington was never the president over there.

I was thinking the same thing. Interesting that (presumably) you’ve got BC in Canada and Southern BC in the US.

I thought it said something about Obama moving into the new White House.

Can’t tell on that map, but does that mean we got to keep the Toledo Strip?

Yep, it’s the White House.

And the guy in the episode where the alt-universe building crossed over confirmed that the Pentagon and the White House got attacked.

What I didn’t like is, when Olivia first went over to the other side Obama was the real president.
When she goes back again with Walter and the others, suddenly he’s only the President in the alternate universe’s version of The West Wing.

Did they say that out loud?

Because in the picture it looks like someone who kinda looks like, but not really is Obama.

ETA: And the Alt-Universe guy did say that Obama was president.

Oh, OK. If it’s just someone who looks like him, I feel better then.

Considering Michigan’s luck, probably. Maybe we try to get it back, and you damn Ohioans spark whatever goes down in Detroit, causing Broyles to loose an eye (henceforth, jokingly called “Buckeye” behind his back)!

Anyhow, if Michigan didn’t get the U.P., it’d only make sense Wisconsin gets it. They combined all the other North/South states, and made Texas into one (and somehow Oklahoma and Kansas becomes Midland). But we loose an entire peninsula?! Double Grrr! See what happens when President Washington never gets elected?

Also, I wonder if we ever obtained Hawaii and Alaska? Does this mean Obama is, in fact, not American and Sarah Palin’s Canadian?!

Well, come on - it’s not like you guys were using it.

Sure we did! We, uh… Well, it… There’s plenty of times we… Uh… Well, we built that frikkin’ bridge!

Don’t you dare try to foist that… that… thing off on us. I’m pretty sure she was born in Iowa or Idaho or something.

That may be the case, but alas, she still married her husband Todd, who is a native Alaskan. I believe she was appointed Prime Minister in 2009 after the U.P. sank to the bottom of Lake Superior setting off a chain of events where Harper was tragically incapacitated in Amber.
