Rats. Doesn’t look like there is such a thing, and I was down to get one.
I smell. A money-making opportunity ![]()
Knowledge of what’s going on in other countries may not lessen the pain, but it does serve to put it into context. Admittedly the messaging could have been better saying, for instance not that things are worse in other places, but that we’re coming back better and stronger USA, USA and all that.
More on Gov. Andy Beshear. Right now, he’s the 2028 frontrunner for me: Democratic governor in deep red Kentucky considers White House run : NPR
He looks good to me, also.
One downside to that would be the next Governor of KY would likely be a Republican.
J.B. Pritzker – my choice for the Democratic presidential candidate in 2028 – is going to be on Rachel Maddow’s show tonight (Oct 6). Let’s see how he does… She only gives her guests about 5 minutes. But it’s a lot of exposure.
There’s a lot of him to expose.

Newsom continues to be unfathomably based:

I don’t understand this description. 'Splain please.
Based just means “good”, basically. Especially a good take on a controversial position. And “unfathomably” means “to an unimaginably large degree”.
Yeah, I have a degree in English so I know what “unfathomably” means. It was the phrase I didn’t understand.
Thanks @Zoobi .
Is important to realize the strong ties that it has to the alt-right. You will rarely see it’s unironic use in politics without it coming from the alt-right. So just be careful dropping a “based” without realizing the full connotation behind it.
I tried to check said basing with slight variations on this ChatGPT prompt:
“What will be the likely ratio of government dollars spent to consumer cost savings for CalRx insulin.”
ChatGPT shows its work, so just dismissing AI is not convincing to me.
AI gave me different possible formulas, and all show at every least a 1:! return, and under the great majority of assumptions, better than that. Best case is that, in a few years, dozens of consumer dollars will have been saved for each dollar the government of California invested.
I’m not sure ChatGPT is sufficiently taking into account the impact of existing insurance prescription drug plans. A lot have high copays, so how it impacts the consumer savings is complex.
Am I giving Republicans a idea with this post? No, I’m sure their opp research shops are already working on this. There certainly are ways you can question the value here. Most will be unfair but maybe not all.
As a confirmed capitalist, I was a little surprised that there could be any good case for this making economic sense. But I think there is.
…that’s patently untrue. Do you want me to list left leaning examples of the term “based” being used unironically?
Go for it. The denominator will still make it rare.
I mean, here’s the meme where I first came across the term “based”:
The thing being called “based” in that meme is illegally distributing HRT to minors who are trans but live in red states so cannot get HRT.
Maybe @Zoobi would be right about it being a right wing term if we lived in 2018 but words change and “based” has been widely adopted across the internet.
Ok sounds like you know what you want.
I will let the readers look into this for themselves.
Even if it is a right-wing term, who cares? The right stole “woke”; why not steal something back?
