What is the breakdown of apples and bananas as to total carbohydrates and simple and complex sugars? What is a good site with info on fruits, either as a whole or different kinds of fruits?
I’ve found this website to be very useful. It’s the USDA Nutrient database. I keep it bookmarked. It’s searchable by keyword, and very easy to use.
For instance, if you search for “apple” you get a long list of foods that include apples in some way. If you pick “apples, raw, with skin” and then pick the serving size (for example, “1 large (3-1/4” dia) (approx 2 per lb) = 212 grams"), you get a detailed nutritional breakdown. In this case, one large apple has the following carbohydrate-related information listed:
The nutritional information is very detailed lists of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, lipid (fat) breakdown, proportions of all the amino acids, and other things (like alcohol, caffeine, lycopene).
