I get the point you’re trying to make, but you’re wrong. Obfuscation is not security. Conversely, something can be perfectly straightforward to use and still be secure. The fact that it’s easy for me to log into my online banking account and pay my water bill doesn’t mean that everyone on the Internet can steal my money, nor would hiding the bill payment screen under ten submenus make my money any more or less secure.
Wrong. Even if it’s hard to uninstall, the hacker only needs to figure out how to do it once.
Errr… what Giraffe said.
Anyway, for home users, there is absolutely no reason to use anything other than Microsoft Security Essentials. It’s the least intrusive AV program I’ve ever used, hands down, and I’ll probably be moving my company to the enterprise version once the subscription to our current vendor runs out.
But that’s where the best porn is located!
Umm, isn’t posting this a little like offering your friends a drink… that’s highly addictive and often poisonous but tastes reeeeally good?
(and if my wife sees this post, I’m posting metaphorically/symbolically/innocent-of-all-chargesly)
I’ll be in my bunk
