I quit watching the playoffs once my team got knocked out, so you know I haven’t been biased by recent games:
Ahem
Fuck Shaq, Kobe, Phil, Scottie, and every chicken-felching ref ever hired by the NBA!!!
To Milo: Devils back-to-back.
Funny thing is, it was very high-scoring series compared to the games in the Dennis Rodman era. Nothing about this year would indicate such.
Some of us liked the Red Wings before they were cool - like 20-some years ago, when they played at Olympia, won 10 games a season and missed the playoffs for a decade or so.
Can’t account for the bandwagon idiots. They remind me of those must-be-seen fans that line the Lakers games.
OK… I didn’t bother to read all the posts here…
Did anyone notce that the Pacers didn’t seem all to depresed? I don’t follow basketball much, but I didn’t expect Larry Bird to shake Bill Johnson’s (?) hand … and get hugs from the Laker guys… even the pacers were slappin’ the Laker’s asses.
Like I said, I don’t watch much basketball, but I saw about the last 10 minutes of the game, and I must say, it was very entertaining. I was hoping the Pacers would win, just to piss off everyone that was standing around the court waiting to run out when the Lakers one. I would have loved to see what would happen had they didn’t win.
FWIWI think the problem the Pacers had was they were dazzled by the court side beauty of Diane Cannon.
ESPN has reported that SHAQdaddy has offered to pay for one of the cop cars torched in the riot and the Lakers have offered to pay for the other one and other individual players are chipping in to cover the destroyed news vans.
You gotta love theses guys!!!
I do know about the hockey history in Detroit, and I know that most of the fans there suffered though most of the 80’s. But lets be honest here, you said you didn’t like watching the basketball game because the announcers were so pro-Lakers. It is tough to watch hockey on ESPN if you aren’t a fan of Detroit. It is the same thing, although I’m sure that the bias is hard to see when you like the team being sucked up to. Also, can you please tell me who had that whole “hockeytown” idea?
Milo, if you’re not a basketball fan, how come you know so much about what happened to shaq in the past? Screw what you think. Lakers Rule!!!

Yep, I did. And it confirmed everything I said. Mystery calls on phantom fouls.
Until the officiating is cleaned up, the NBA will be no more realistic than the WWF.
I used to like the NBA, but I can’t stand to watch it anymore. It’s a joke, and that’s too bad.
In regards to NBA calls and non-calls, I’m continually thinking “The fix is in!” Stars are allowed to get away with more than non-stars, but virtually every player travels on a constant basis (the step-hop move is a blatant example), they palm the ball, they grab, the hang on the rim, they interefere with the ball after baskets–there is not consistency in making calls, other than that the home team tends t get the breaks.
I like the NBA somewhat, but it was better with less contact. The Showtime Lakers would have beaten this bunch in about 5 games, and that’s under today’s rules; under older versions of calling fouls, the Showtime Lakers would sweep.
