Fuck the Alabama Supreme Court

Somebody needs to Latin that up.

Retrorsum Contra Historiam

On second thoughts, make that

Ad Historiam Praepostere

literally “topsy-turvy or wrongheadedly with respect to history”, which I think better captures the sense of the English idiom.

semper in caput asini ?

“asinus” is Latin not for the ass that’s “rounded and pink, as you probably think” but for the kind that “has gray hair and eats grass”.
buttocks is clunes, natis, or puga. But I think you might want culus, which not only means “buttocks”, but carries the suggestion of “anus” as well.
Or you might go straight with anus, but that’s probably too vulgar.

Ha!, fooled by google translate, the funny thing is that I used Spanish -> Latin, thinking it would be easier for it to translate a romance language, I wrote “Cabeza siempre en el culo” and got that.

So, it’s “Semper in caput culus”?

Try this for the plates: “Nos concumbere cum propinquis”

I think not, if you mean something like “head always up ass”: that would be Caput semper in culo or some such.

 That’s absolutely disgusting!! I don’t mind taking a few liberties for the sake of humor, but that just goes way too far!!!

Sorry to be so vehement, but there is really no excuse for substituting an infinitive for the properly conjugated finite form of a verb.

What I think you meant to say is “Nos cum propinquis nostris concumbimus”.

I’ll better give up with the Latin and try a motto in Spanish, like the Malborough’s “Fiel pero Desdichado”, perhaps “No somos el lapiz mas afilado del tarro”…

they do WHAT with cucumbers?

Now I’m flashing on the Romani ite domum scene from “Life of Brian”.

Either way, they’ll complain about the Latinos taking jobs.

People called cucumbers, they go the nostril?

Exactly!

Although a more nitpickingly literal translation might be “We fornicate with our relatives.”

Nothing is too vulgar for Alabama!

I’d have thought “The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.” would be more appropriate.

I don’t see this as being on the wrong side of history. I see it as Alabama trying to secede due to disagreeing with the federal courts. That’s what you are doing if you try to revoke the supremacy of the U.S. Constitution.

Funny, I always had Texas pegged as the first to go. But I guess only Alabama is stupid enough to think it would work. Even Arkansas is smarter about it, even if we had to have it beaten into us.

I wrote this on Feb. 12; no answer yet:

Chief Justice Roy S. Moore
Supreme Court of Alabama
300 Dexter Ave.
Montgomery AL 36104

Dear Chief Justice Moore:

In light of your recent high-profile intervention in the same sex marriage controversy in Alabama, I thought this little refresher might be useful:

Article VI.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States (emphasis added).

You’re welcome.

Very truly yours,
