Just imagine living in Maine, where every day is a slow news day. Yes, Mr. Weatherman, we’re going to get a shitload of snow. It’s not like this is a brand new experience for us! It happens at least several times each winter, and has done so for as long as I can remember.
Fuck the ignorant mouth breathers who make it worthwhile for the media to publicize stuff I don’t give a fuck about. I have much respect for the British royal family, though. They send their sons to the military, so they actually have skin in the game.
To be honest, I isolate myself from sports and celebrities quite efficaciously and am satisfied with Google News. What I’d like though is a monthly newsletter to keep up with this crap, preferably something that I could spend like a minute on.
Wow, the internet certainly makes people entitled, don’t it? We seem to be at a time when people will blow their tops if they are even exposed to a piece of media that doesn’t fit their exact preferences. It makes me wonder what would happen if these people were to pick up a newspaper. Sports and human interest stuff take up two whole sections!
I don’t read the news in general. Missing out on a bunch of negativity isn’t going to hurt my life any.
Fuck fuck fuck, why isn’t there a news aggregator for adults?
Fuckall, Google, I don’t give a shit (royal or otherwise) that some gilded twat pumped out another human, and I particularly don’t give a fingerful of piss about that people are speculating what its name is going to be.
When I want inane claptrap about what’s coming out of someone else’s claptrap, I’ll head to MPSIMS or Cafe or even off to Reddit. But that shit IS. NOT. NEWS.
(Neither is the prospect of two people making millions of dollars to beat the shit out of each other. Whether bumfights or a ‘title’ fight, it’s not news.)
What is the definition of news?
Hah!
So, other than not giving a fuck about what Rhythmdvl doesn’t give a fuck about, what don’t you give a fuck about?
Golf. I don’t even give a fuck enough about it to say aloud that I don’t give a fuck about it. In fact, if you hadn’t asked, and you didn’t live on Shakedown Street, I likely wouldn’t have ever told anyone.
When I read the Title to the OP’s post, I thought the rant was about the Kansas City Royals.:smack:
That’s a ridiculous assumption. News isn’t just news, it’s entertainment and it’s about making money. No news firm of any kind does it for free or a loss; therefore news has to balance politics with business with science with sports with entertainment with whatever else the masses want to know about. I bet at least a billion people were reading about the latest royal birth this morning. You can’t ignore a story that a billion people want to read.
And you don’t even live in the country with the centre of the universe, Toronto.
Any city in Canada, east or west of Toronto, could be buried under glaciers and it wouldn’t hit the national news, print or electronic. A single fucking snowflake falls in Toronto and everyone from St. John’s, Nfld. to Victoria, B.C., are breathlessly informed of it, over and over and over and over. . . .
I disagree. We’ve all been well-informed of the storms in the maritimes this year. The Calgary floods of last year were all over the news channels. The ice storm in eastern Ontario and Quebec were international news in 1998. There have been floods in Manitoba in previous years. There have been highway deaths on the 401 near Kingston this year due to road conditions. Floods in Quebec a few years back. Stranded motorists on highway 402 near Sarnia last year. Tornadoes in southern Ontario last year, etc, etc, etc.
I guess you don’t read anything but The Toronto Star.
I read (links from left to right on my home page, and from top down) AP, Reuters, Yahoo, Google Canada, Google, CBC, CTV, the freebie Metro (TorStar), TSX, Huffington, Toronto Star, Winnipeg Free Press, the Independent, the Daily Mail, the Guardian, BBC, Private Eye, The Scotsman, the Herald (Scotland), Salon, New York Daily News, the Washington Post, NBC News, CNN, CNN Money, USA Today, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, along with some you’ve probably never heard of, Democracy Now, theFrenchPaper and Voltairenet.
I read all of them through a normal week.
Oooooooooh! Sick burn dude. You sure showed him. ![]()
Yes, you really can. You just don’t click on the news you don’t want to read. Pretty simple as that. For some reason the OP thinks that the world should cater to his own liking and spoon feed it to him like rice cereal to a baby.
This is basically yet another “other people are stupid sheep” rant in disguise.
Obviously this is the perfect thread to announce this highly important news:
The latest Royal Princess is named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana!
Elizabeth is from Charlotte’s great-grandmother (the present Monarch) and Diana is from Charlotte’s grandmother.
Adoring crowds gathered outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate the news and there had been extensive betting on:
- the sex of the child
- the name of the child
- the colour of the dress worn by the baby’s mother when they first appeared together in public (pink was the favourite with odds of 5/6; cream was at 5/1, while yellow was at 6/1)
Other than that… how’s your day going? ![]()
Those motherfuckers! I knew it would come to this!
