Fuck the solar eclipse

:stuck_out_tongue:

I feel your pain. No one anywhere here will shut up about it. But the worst part is the traffic - it’s being predicted by ODOT to be the biggest traffic event in the state’s history. About 1 million people are going to be driving to central Oregon, either from SEA-TAC or PDX. I’m working from home Monday.

Only if your wedding is on the same day.

Thanks to all for throwing shade on my rant.

You’re missing a prime opportunity for the future. Relocate your wedding now!
That way, you can truthfully say that your wedding was a dark day indeed.

rc, also married on Aug 20

Traffic is going to be a bitch, bro.

Once upon a time I was falling in love
Now I’m only falling apart
There’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse

Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there’s only love in the dark
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse

I see watt you did there.

I have to work that day. Would you mind re-scheduling it? Thanks.

What do people think that they are going to see with those stupid glasses, anyway? All you see is a dot with a bite taken out of it.

Work? No problem. I’ll write you a note. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, fuck that guy. Like I need life advice from some NPR nerd who calls himself an “umbraphile.”

I don’t know what’s more annoying: the endless talk of apocalyptic gridlock and civilization collapse along the eclipse path, or the chirpy optimism of people who seem blissfully unaware of said predictions. I am still meeting people who say things like “Gonna hop in the car with the kids on Monday morning and zip over to <wherever> for the eclipse!” Yeah, sure you are.

I thought Just Asking Questions’s comment was pretty good:

I’m going to stay home and stream it online. science

Pro tip: keep one eye shut.

Nothing wrong with that; to each his own. But really, these were total eclipses you watched - not partial, not annular - under clear skies, and you weren’t awed?

You are hard to impress.

preview from Nova Eclipse Over America

You say that now, but in 600,000,000 years when the moon’s drifted too far away to create a total eclipse, you’re going to miss them. Mark my words.

I live in Salem, OR and Chefguy is 100% spot on. We’ve been bombarded with not only news stories, but panic like I’ve never seen. :dubious:

It occurs to me that during the eclipse would be a perfect time for NK to launch a nuke. Hit us while everybody is looking up.

Now hearing that Madras is out of gas. Here’s a live look in at I-26
