Hey…such is the life of a Blockologist. Tell her to get certified in first aid or whatever is needed to be a babysitter. They make a lot more money, have time for homework, and work with people who are the same maturity as Blockologists!
I’m dead serious. Blockbuster has got to be the bottom of the barrel in the world of McJobs.
I must say I’m surprised in California you don’t get paid time and a half for working on holidays. Growing up in Virginia and having worked a few retail jobs in High School I was always paid time and a half, and I only worked around 20-25 hours a week.
I have to wonder how is your sister’s financial situation so terrible she can’t afford to be without a job for a few weeks?
There’s always FAFSA, unsubsidized loans, PELL grants, et al. Most of the college students I’ve known that couldn’t afford to go a few weeks without working were either not availing themselves of all financial aid opportunities, living beyond their means, or trying to support a family while going to school.
If I was in the situation I’d be going into as much debt as possible vs. working my ass off. Personally I know my limits and think trying to maintain a full-time college student’s educational requirements while working borderline-full time is just going for the worst of both worlds.
