Fuck you, Joe Manchin!

Who cares what Manchin says he wants? That’s been shown to have very little to do with what he actually does (which is, occasionally vote for Democratic priorities, and mostly be a pain in the ass). Which is still about a million times better than any other possible Senator we could get from WV.

Common? I think it’s required. I can’t remember any politician, ever, answering a question they were actually asked.

Sinema’s owners have given her permission to support the bill.

Provided they strip out the carried interest reform.

This really proves which side her bread is buttered on.

Small steps, good vs perfect, etc. There is good stuff in the bill, and the minimum corporate tax is a nice start (although the accountants will find ways around that much easier than taxing carried interest as regular income).

This wasn’t a complaint about their dropping it, it was a complaint about Sinema.

What a disingenuous putz-face.

Dems will need as many on board as possible in '24 to keep the senate majority, so hopefully JM can stop being some attention-starved waffler and just continue to slog along with a party that hopes to not have to rely on him as much in '24 for another likely super-slim senate majority.

Eh, what do you expect him to say on Fox News? I don’t care at all what he calls himself. I care how he votes.

I’m willing to grant Manchin a tiny amount of slack due to the fact that large majorities of his voters are right-wing MAGA types. He has to at least attempt to signal to them that he’s no durned lefty-liberal, etc.

But he does display a brand of smug self-righteousness during these exercises in branding that is very, very hard to take.

2024 could go well or badly for sane and patriotic Americans; with any luck, there will be enough of us voting to make ol’ Joe irrelevant for once and for all.

Shock!

Yeah, he knows he is probably toast next election if he doesn’t and he’s a careerist. Unlike Sinema (who was toast either way), Manchin might stand an outside chance of survival as an independent. Not a good chance. But any port in a storm when you’re clinging to power, I guess.

Alternate headline: “Least popular candidate asks party for campaign money in most roundabout way”

You are generous about his chances of surviving, even as an independent. He’s toast and he knows it.

Probably and maybe. But, ‘rage, rage against the dying of the light.’

Manchin is the best chance we have in his state (unlike Sinema, who could be vastly improved upon). If he needs to go independent to win reelection, then that’s fine with me, as long as he caucuses with the Democrats.

Manchin’s out.

Huh. I wonder what that leaves him free to do?

/s

Well, it apparently doesn’t leave him free to run for President…

I’m glad to hear it. I don’t know that Manchin is all that well-loved among independents, but any votes taken from the Democrat (Biden, I assume) are votes for Putin’s little friend Donald.

The low-information voters are more likely to go for Kennedy (‘he’s a Kennedy!’) than for Manchin. Still, good that he won’t be on the ballot.

Ok Manchin…

Un-fuck you!!
