Fuck you MSM. Just fuck you.

eleanorigby, this thread is an example of just the mildest form of CPC. Check this out:http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=6947278&postcount=79

People actually believe this in a country where the majority of folks self-identify as Christian. Where the vast majority of elected leaders make sure the voters know they are Christian.

It’s quite astonishing, isn’t it? It shows how easy it is to make people believe they are victims, blowing away even the most common of sense like a handful of sand in a hurricane.

Yep. A syndrome which can be seen in its malignant best in the likes of Bill O’Reilly and John Gibson.

Yes, eleanorigby, it exists.

no, that’s just when the persecution ended

I can only suffer fools so far. You’ve hit my limit. Reread the thread and I’ll help you along if you still don’t get it.

On another note, a Christian feeling persecuted in today’s world is a bit like a Roman legionary feeling uncomfortable in Judea.

Then i don’t know how you live with yourself.

Tada!

Sorry I couldn’t help with that. I was on the dock terminal of an oil refinery all day. I’d rather have eaten glass but, well, whattaya gonna do?

-Joe, needs paychecks

OK-never done this, but here goes: you are batshit insane. This is a very inept and inapt analogy. Or is this comparison to subtley underscore the End times as well? Whichever, whatever, it’s insane. It’s stupid. Anyone who thinks this is stupid. Hell, you’re stupid.

I’m Christian (well, alone and in the dark, maybe not)–I live in a fairly diverse middle class to upper middle class suburb: Christians (be they protestants, catholics, evangelicals etc) far outnumber those of jewish, hindu, buddhist or muslim background–the wiccans, atheists and satanists are too few to count. Our schools fucking celebrate Valentine’s Day–the Great Blight hasn’t taken that one away yet. As a parent, I can’t wait for that poor excuse for a holiday to GO. Funnily enough, since we LIVE in a diverse community, it sure is nice for the kids to learn about Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, and the Hindu holidays etc. This teaches the kids tolerance which helps eradicate ignorance and prejudice. How very fucking Christian of all the religions. The arrogance of this position! As if Christianity is the only religion out there or worthy of recognition. Christ on a cracker.

Persecuted. Do you even know what the word means? What the hell is this movement? Some kind of narcissistic, sack-clothed, public act of emotional masturbation?

Get a life–soon. Now would be good. Get some perspective on life and it’s ills and hurts. Go walk thru a godammed burn unit or pediatric cancer ward to see real suffering. Or better yet-a prison filled with women who have been accused of adultery etc in (pick one) Yemen, Saudi arabia, Afghanistan etc–I am sure you will find true persecution there.
Why the hell do some folk find it neccessary to be the goddammed victims in order to have high moral ground? You are making Christianity look assinine–stop it. In Jesus’ name, stop it. You’re supposed to garner strength from your faith–not turn your dammed faith into a bleeding doormat, Mel Cooley patsy.

I feel dirty all over. This is just nasty. I don’t even like my church or religion right now, but this makes me ill. Grow a set, walk the walk, ass–stop whining about a clear majority and a culture so prevalent as to be unquestioned even today.

How so? The Romans were also paranoics with a delusional view of reality?

Good night’s sleep, cooler heads and all that–and I am stilling shaking my head over this.

I knew about the War on Christmas–but figured that was just a ratings based hysteria what with Christmas time being slow news-wise.

I never thought that there could be people out there (in America) who thought that Jesus was taking a beating in the polls etc.

Maybe these people should talk to a neurologist I know–he’s a Sikh. Let’s talk about how he was treated immediately post 9/11. He was afraid to walk down his own street because of his turban.

That’s persecution–and it happens right here in good ole Christian America.

I must say that reading this has helped my weight loss program–I am so nauseated by the thought of this nonsense, I’ve lost my appetite completely.

Ummmmmmm, I think you picked the wrong target for your tirade. Frankly, having read your post a second time I’m still not exactly sure of your position, but in any case, my likening feelings of current Christians to Roman soldiers was meant to imply (perhaps poorly), that they were the ones setting the rules and that if anything, the Judeans (other religions) had the right to complain. Hell, I’m an atheist.

I guess my metaphor really sucked. As I just said to Eleanor, I meant to imply that current Christians, like Romans in Judea, didn’t really deserve much pity.

I guess I misunderstood, KidCharlemagne, my apologies.

Update on what I am hearing in the news. So, I have been paying careful attention to NPR for how stories on cartoon riots are presented in the last two days and it has come up… nada. Big things exploding in Iraq have taken over. This would suggest to me that the previous thoughts that the reason the Christian on Muslim violence had taken over the Muslim on Christian was because of its newness, as this current story trumps both, but we still have that nagging question about how they were presented.

I guess we just have to wait until the next big Muslim lynching Christian event happens and see what the headlines say. If it doesn’t happen soon though, which it might not as Muslims are currently busy blowing up other Muslims, we will be back to square one.

In my humble opinion you’re all nuts.

It was a simile.

And you’re right that it sucked. like your whole “argument” in this thread.

oops.
[Emily Latella] Never mind[/EL]

Dayum-I wasted all that vitriol. <scuffs shoe, kicks stone>

Well, my idea of seeing how they title things in the future seems to have been irrelevant. It looks like any article written now is going to include violence both ways since both Muslims and Christians seem to be getting into their riot groove.

To partially explain this idicoy, it seems that everywhere the riots break out the cartoons were merely an excuse to riot about other things.

Unless your neurologist friend was actually persecuted, it’s not persecution.

Or did I miss something, too?
