Why the fuck would you bring home a kitten and then proceed to a. not feed it, b. not give it a place to sleep inside, especially as winter approaches, c. now that you know it comes over here a lot, come over and get it, and d. get another kitten when you let the last one die! It’s bad enough you’ve got four loud dogs in a small pen outside all the time, no matter what the weather, but then you have to abuse cats as well! So now, since I care about other creatures on the Earth, I’m feeding and caring for another cat, to add to my girlfriend’s two, and my one. Thanks a whole fucking lot. Because I care enough about an animal, especially about a two month old kitten, so that you won’t kill another one, I inherit another cat. Good thing I like cats.
Seriously, my duplex-mate’s dog was digging in some leaves one time, and found a dead kitten, which had most recently been seen leaving my neighbor’s house. About a month ago, a new kitten was spotted, looking very ragged. My duplex-mate left out some food, as did I. We got about 10 inches of rain a week ago, this cat had no shelter, so it came inside. Our asshole neighbor came over to borrow something a few weeks back, and stated “Oh, there’s my cat. I was wondering where it was.” We now he know’s, but apparently doesn’t care. I swear, people are no damn good.
Let me begin by saying your neighbors are jerks. Anybody who does the things that they do are stupid, uneducated jerks. I have two cats myself. They are the best pets in the whole universe and they are both strays who came to me from neighbors who didn’t care. That said (did I mention your neighbors are jerks), what does their being white have to do with anything? Had the OP mentioned Puerto Rican or African-American trailer trash I have no doubt that somebody would come in here to point out that race has nothing to do with jerkiness. I just felt I had to do the same thing here.
Chupacabra - your post does make your point, but it also adds precedent for mentioning race as part of the rant. Amp complained about his Puerto Rican family, and diku complained about his white neighbours.
The line in the OP was less about the colour of their skin and more about them being trash - somehow “my animal-abusing trash neighbors!” doesn’t have the same ring.
Perhaps we need an all-inclusive insult with a meaning like white trash, but without being race-specific? My suggestion would be “scuzzbuckets”.
The neighbors are jerks. Any chance you can report them for cruelty to the dogs and cats? Are the dogs required to be registered with the local council - and if so are they registered? Can you complain about the noise the dogs make? Some people don’t deserve pets.
Get over hijacking this thread. The people sound like white trash. It’s not all-inclusive. There are plenty of white people out there who are not trash. I am one of them. However, in the OPs opinion, that is exactly what these people are. Leave it. I am tired of this useless PC crap. Why nitpick about WORDS, when we should be focusing on the
horrible DEEDS being described to us? Get some priorities, people.
Having said that, I am a little confused about some details
in the OP. Are there now 2 dead kittens under their scum belts, or one? (at this point , anyway.)
This just pisses me off to no end. Why do they get the animals? Do they have kids? Do they forget to feed them, as well?
I would talk to them about this, pronto. Or call the SCPA
on them. They will never learn otherwise, and will keep
ignorantly and irresponsibly adding to your ragged menagerie. Unconscienable.
Another suggestion-become a kittennapper. I did. Well, actually, a doggnapper to be precise.
Find a shelter that does not euthanasia, make a small donation (which will probably be more cost effective for you in the long run) and remove the kitty.
1 dead kitten at this point. I’m taking care of another make sure it doesn’t become two. As for the appropriateness of calling them white trash, anyone that comes to my house, wearing nothing but a speedo, dipping skoal, asking to borrow a plunger, in the middle of NOVEMBER, qualifies as far as I’m concerned. I live in Nashville, I think I can spot it when I see it.
As for animal control, if they dogs don’t bite, they don’t care. Duplex-mate already tried once. I might go to the SPCA. The kitten got named last night, so it looks like it’s ours now.
Girlfriend named it Patches, on account of the black and white color. I wanted to name it Newspaper or Rorschach. She wouldn’t go for it…can’t imagine why…
Why no help for the dogs? Are you an animal bigot? ;)
So let me get this straight, based upon the fact that your neighbor mistreats cats (and possibly dogs) people in general are no damn good? What? I can’t hear your response, that pedestal you’re on is just too darn high. ;)
Jet Black
(Emphasis mine)
What would be the right amount of people like this in the world?
How many can we kill?
scredle
This ranks pretty low on the scale of horrible deeds. You are right though, getting some priorities would be helpful.

This only improves the situation of that particular animal. Unless you are prepared to continually abduct these peoples “pets” you do nothing to solve the problem.
Sorry, some of this thread made me laugh. Most of my comments are tongue-in-cheek and are not meant as absolutely serious. I am serious that you shouldn’t “kitty-nap” or aid your neighbors mistreated animals. At least not without reporting them and making sure the situation is documented (by yourself or the proper authorities). Want to help? Make sure something is done to stop the abuser not just to relieve the abused. I am also serious that in the grand scheme of things that “animal abuse” (mistreatment?), at least on these scales, is almost off the radar compared to the other “abuses” taking place in this world.
Nah, the cat thing doesn’t make me think people are no damn good. I’ve had that feeling for quite a while now :). I call the SPCA today, and they’re going to assess the situation, for whatever that means. Yes, animal-abuse may be small on the scale of things, but I do what I can to help what I can affect around me.
Hello Hibbins!
(waving)
Yes, I am prepared to find a home for each and every abandoned and neglected animal that ends up on my property. I can’t save every animal in the county but I can take care of those that I come into direct contact with.
As regards cat or dog napping-if you patently don’t give a rat’s bottom about your animals and I end up feeding and sheltering them for 8 months-they’re history!
I wasn’t necessarily disagreeing. Just don’t let that be your only course of action. I was suggesting that if you are going to take action make sure that the offender is in some way made aware they are being abusive (i.e. turned in to humane society, police called, or a simple anonymous letter). “Napping” an animal and doing nothing else only enables the offender to abuse further animals.
It’s a little bit different where I live. Animals are (including dogs for the most part) considered livestock.
Which is not the way I treat my beasties but hey…as long as they’re feed and healthy and not indiscriminately breeding, I don’t really consider it any of my business.
Unless they move in with me, of course.
I was privy to a conversation between an old rancher (OR) and the vet’s assistant (VA) recently.
VA: “This is such a nice dog but we didn’t see her name on the paperwork so we’ve been calling her Blackie. What do you call her?”
OR: Looking astonished “We call her dog.”
I’m being long-winded but I’m trying to make the point that the authorities would hardly consider ignoring dog neglect. Hellsfire, when a truly abused dog is rescued, the general consensus of the police is the best thing for the animal is a bullet.
The local shelter has been fighting that attitude for years.
