Fuck you, Rowan County (KY) Clerk Kim Davis

He only cited one couple. Is it two?

Six couples. Four couples listed in the lawsuit and the two others that have been mentioned in the linked stories.

Got any more distortions?

Geez D’Anconia.

I’ve read this thread, and have even watched news reports IN AUSTRALIA about this travesty, yet you somehow seem to think it’s a bit of ‘recreational outrage’, that unless you’re gay and wanting to get married AND live in that particular county in Kentucky it shouldn’t affect you?

Are you serious? Really? Or are you just being a recreational troll for shitz and giggles?

:dubious:

Nope.

The key word is “specifically”. Someone refers to someone else as “my sister”? I’d expect they be related by adoption if not blood.

Learn. To. Read. Homophobic. Asshole.

I don’t think he/she is necessarily homophobic. Just really stupid.

Oh, and an arsehole to boot!

I’ve seen enough posts in other threads to know the stupid isn’t a great as we are being led to believe. I call troll or homophobe. Or homophobic troll.

I can get behind troll! But I wonder whether our esteemed member just likes to jump on any popular topic in order to hang out under the bridge? You may be right about the homophobia, but in this thread it seems that the poster is just clutching at any straw possible to keep the bleating going!

I’d give him the boot if it were up to me…

(Note regarding rules: “evict him,” not “kick him.”)

And, anyway, he’s an American! You can’t call him an arsehole! He’s an asshole, square and fair! None o’ these relics of Empire and Commonwealth. We fought a war to secure our linguistic independence. The P.M. in Canberra may be an arsehole (depends; what party is he?) but our boy here is an asshole, pure and simple.

Well, he’s simple, anyway.

Our resident PM arsehole is a Liberal, which translates into Americanese as Conservative.

The AP has a story up about Mrs. Davis that details her religious conversion and her marriage and reproductive history.

Nowhere in the story does it mention her compassion for her fellow humans (prolly because her actions so far don’t indicate that she has any), her sense of duty to her office and her community (prolly because her actions so far don’t indicate that she has any) or her understanding that in this country, not everyone has to be like you (again, prolly because her actions so far don’t indicate that she has any).

I just saw the above news item on Davis. Seems she applies family and Biblical values rather selectively in her life. Married four time, divorced three.

Divorced one guy while pregnant with twins from the third guy, but #2 adopted them? I think family get togethers with these folks must be interesting.

I wonder how many Kentuckians would be defending her religious liberty if she was a devout Quaker who refused to issue gun permits.

I think D’Anconia’s question may stem from a believe that gays are an urban phenomenon, and that out there in God’s Country, there are only “normal” people. That if it were not for these outside rabble-rousers, the good people of the county would not face this issue.

So there are 23,000 people in this county. Let’s subtract 10% for kids too young to have a fully developed sexual identity yet, makes 20,700. Let’s take a little more for a fudge factor and to make the following math even easier than it already is. 20,000. So now, the last step is to multiply by a conservative 2%.

There are 400 gay people in Rowan County, Kentucky.

By what process of logic, D’Anconia, do you reach the conclusion that these people are unentitled to the services of their government?

Is there no mechanism by which an elected official can be removed from office for refusing to do the job he/she was elected to do? Maybe the County Supervisor can step in? The Governor?

How many couples does it take to acquire civil rights? Should we not allow blacks to vote in areas where there are insufficient blacks? Should we not allow minority religions in places where not many of them live?

Since she’s not doing her job, why don’t they just stop paying her?

My understanding is that she can be impeached, but not until the state legislature is back in session.

And who would have the authority to impose a pay suspension?

Yes, like I wrote, it smacks me of bad organizational design to have the process for suspending or removing or overruling a full-time official NOT available full-time, out of assuming that people would be honorable enough to resign first. Maybe Kentucky should consider moving this in the future from the Legislature’s to a statewide court or commission’s sphere of action.
