As a Latino that was an illegal for a time and now an American citizen, I was holding back in those threads since warnings had come not to drop the R word.
I complained that not being able to call a spade a spade **may ** have been conductive for the discussion, but I think it allowed proponents of hate virtual rein in the debates. Though it was good to see some moderation when many cites were shown to come from racist sites.
Lissa, great pitting. I’ll admit after that first thread of hers, I stopped reading her posts.

I was going to point out that this is fun but not really useful as suezeekay is clearly a retard, but then I think I realized exactly why using that term as a pejorative is so offensive. It’s not just that suezeekay is stupid - too stupid to put together a meaningful argument as the link to bizarro “men and young boys” thread shows - she’s also hateful and so eager to share her hatred that she trips over her own metaphorical feet to do so. And obviously the developmentally disabled are not particularly hateful; chalking up all of suezeekay’s actions to her obvious cognitive deficit really is cruel and unfair to her fellows.
Anyway, can anyone explain why she suddenly lost it in this thread?

Good OP, Lissa. I’m not entirely sure where I stand on the whole illegal immigration issue myself, so I was really trying to read those threads and get educated, but her posts just made it too icky. I’m sorry to say I still don’t really feel I have a grasp of the issues and arguments.
Just to be clear: I think the anti-immigration side has some very good arguments, and I fully respect people who hold opinions which differ from mine. I’m quite willing to engage in a pleasant debate examining the facts on both sides of the issue, but it turns my stomach to see anyone reduce this issue to an emotional, xenophobic and racist rant.
In other words, I’m not pitting suezeekay because she disagrees with me on immigration, but because she’s a racist pig.
