Fucking Charter Cable and their county-wide bedding emergency.

Last night the city’s emergency sirens started wailing and alarm tones and banners appeared on all the Charter Cable channels.“The Emergency Notification System has been activated… Please tune to channel 20 for details.”

On channel 20 I listened for 10 minutes to a description of HSNs lovely bedding ensemble package deal. It WAS a good deal, and I do need a douvet, but I thought the better of it and didn’t order.

Finally I tuned to a local broadcast channel and got the details on a tornado warning and the local radar picture.

Anyway it turns out that seeking shelter would have been a waste of time. At least I feel comforted that thanks to Charter Cable and HSN, I can, in complete blissful ignorance, literally shop til I drop or get blown away.

Charter sucks. I understand what it takes to keep an area-wide network up and running - hundreds of places across the country manage it routinely. Charter? Nope. Down constantly.

Thank God I have DSL. I can deal with no television, but I need the Internet for my job.
