You’re conflating two different explanations of two different posts. The “shrieking like a girl” post was satirical. In an entirely different post, I responded to a hypothetical scenario about cops blazng away in a bar with a counter-hypothetical about civilians doing it. Differeint posts – different intents. I was asked about both posts, I explained them both.
Everybody who’s been in the military is not a Green Beret. Firearms training in the Air Force is not especially thorough.
3 points!
Dang, that was fast. I should have expected that, I suppose.
You’re right. My mistake.
edit:
Wait, dammit! In your response to me you said the the “shrieking” comment was hypothetical. It’s right there upthread. Check it out. So my comment stands.
What makes you think anybody is afraid of your gun? All you’re doing is confirming my suspicion that you guys onlty carry them around because you get off on the idea that you’re intimidating people. Well, I’m not intimidated, and there’s nowhere you’re afraid to go without a gun that I won’t go unarmed, so which one of us is the “pantswetter?”
I’m not even anti-gun, by the way, and this thread has nothing to do with gun rights.
Sorry. That doesn’t fly. I know too many cops.
I was in the Air Force and have been to Iraq and was not trained to carry a gun. In Basic Training my experience with firearms consisted of one day of firing an M16.
Carrying a firearm while drinking in your neighborhood bar, dropping to the ground at the sight of a laser dot and reaching for that firearm is not being safe and responsible; it’s acting like a jack ass.
Imagine the following is a question on a Police Officer exam. Which do you think is the correct answer?
You’re in possession of your department issued pistol while at your local bar, drinking with some buddies, and you become aware of a laser dot on your chest. Which of the following is the appropriate action to take?:
A. Stand up and yell, Who the hell is doing that?"
B. Drop to the ground and prepare to draw your weapon.
C. Remain calm and look around to determine where it’s coming from.
Apparently the correct answer is D. Prepare for attack by laser wielding sniper shark…
Unless there’s something I’m not aware of that definitely indicates a direct link between death and being tased, you mean “people who died after being tased.”
I see what you mean. No that was actually a mistake on my part. When you quote a thread that quotes another thread you don’t get all the text from the original quoted thread (if you follow me). I was replying line by line in my reply box and when I saw your question “so it was imaginary, then?” I thought it was about the civilian blazing away on the floor scenario. It’s hard to keep everything straight when you’re under these dogpiles.
I’m sure DtC would agree with the statement: “Being tased is like the weather: If its inevitable, you might as well lie back enjoy it.”
Here’s a follow-up question.
You’re on duty in a bar when an off duty buddy asks to borrow your taser so he can goof on some guys in there. What do you do? Use your own words. Spelling counts. Any answer other than Hell No! will be disqualified.
It’s not the inanimate object we object to, it’s the idiots who call people pants wetters while carrying them that we object to. I guess I am one of those pants wetting Iraq vets who owns several weapons and has a CCW and still thinks AD overreacted…did I mention you come across like a blithering idiot? Is that the effect you were going for?
nevermind
It was the same for me in the Navy. I suspected it was the same in the AF, but I didn’t know for sure. My dad and one of my brothers were both in the AF, and, as far as I know, they never had any kind of serious firearms training, but I never asked them.
Denny Crane!
Man, that’s a great bit. “See, here’s my problem. You’re black. And I’m Denny Crane.”
(And it’s Jerry.)
Did you google that?
(oh wait, wrong thread. Never mind)
Is this an attempt to make AD’s actions any more justifiable? Because it’s his actions I am discussing. If the OP were one of the cops I’d probably be discussing that.
What does the Police Officer exam have to do with it? **Doors **is in the Air Force.
Anybody with professional firearms training (not that I have it, but I at least know this much) will tell you that there’s no such thing as shooting to wound. You don’t shoot somebody unless you intend to kill them.
