Oh, just one thought on expert witnesses. I do not have extensive experience but in the few trials where I have been on a jury. I have become to believe that you can get a “expert” witness to testify to damn near anything. I have seen ex-spurt witness testify to shit that is just flat impossible.

Yes, but most of Spector’s “hired guns” are very well respected in their fields, and their fields are what they were hired to testify on. Dr Baden (who yes, is married to one of Spector’s lawyers) had a moment of insight on the stand about the blood spatter and contents of Clarkson’s lungs. Judge Fidler was pissed about it because it was like the defense had sprung something on him and the prosecution, but I saw it as a scientist revising his conclusions based on the evidence.
Absolutely. Just like a lot of other things work better if you have wealth and (some sort of) power.
I think it’s good that people are wanting to give the jury of the benefit of the doubt in this case. Nothing grates on my nerves more than someone hundreds of miles away from the courtroom presuming to know the correct judgement. The juror’s job is not easy and they really don’t deserve to be called stupid or foolish or anything else by an armchair spectactor.
I just wish this level of respect was given more often to jurors of high profile cases. Not just ones involving people like Blake and Spector.
It is currently being debated whether we should do without the bastard verdict.
Sorry. And I thought the state had almost unlimited means and most defendants had severely limited means. Being a millionaire means that you can pay for the same sort of representation that the state has access to. Being poor means you are screwed.
