Fuck you!! I have school tomorrow, it’s almost 1:30 in the morning, and i’ve slept a collective 4 hours in the past 2 days!!! AAHHHHHHH!!!
Comrade!!!
Hehe. I’m in the same boat. Except I don’t have class until noon tomorrow.
Can I join your insomnia party? I don’t have insomnia exactly, but I do have a cold that has kept me up for most of the last two nights. AND I have meetings at work tomorrow.
I’m so wiped out that I can’t even complain effectively. I’m literally whining.
Dang.

Hehheh, I have a 9:00.
And I’m midway through posting the Proust Questionnaire on my journal. I ain’t sleepin’ tonight!!!
sandalfeet, I have the same problem sometimes, one of the things I’ve found that helps me sleep (or at least minimizes the mental fog that comes from the lack of it) is meditation. I find that if I meditate when I can’t sleep I either fall asleep right after, or I’m at least able to function like a normal human being. Another thing you can try is reading something that’s incredibly boring. You know, like the hundred page government manual that tells you how to bake a fruit cake.
I was asleep. Then I woke up, wide awake, at 2 and no I can’t get back to sleep. This has been happening a lot. And it’s the same thing my mother used to complain about when I was a kid. So not only can’t I sleep, have to sit here thinking about how I’m turning into my mother! (not that she’s not a wonderful person and all)
Is 1:30 late? I am really confused.
Ahhhhh… SPRING BREAK!!!
The more you worry about not getting to sleep, the less likely you are to get to sleep.
And of course, the more you worry about THAT, the less likely you are to sleep too.
The answer, of course, is to simply make use of being awake. Watch TV, read, do some work. Assuming that you don’t actually have full-blown insomnia, in no time at all your body will wake up to the fact that it doesn’t really want to be awoken and take you back to slumberland.
However if you really do have proper full-blown insomnia then Og help you.

4 hours in 2 days. Wow. That’s plenty of sleep. That’s what I normally function on.
Sleep is what weekends are for my friend. I may only get 5 hours during the weekdays, but I balance it out on the weekends by getting like 7 each night. Okay so it doesn’t really balance, but it’s not my fault Europa Universalis II is so fun.
yes, i am diagnosed with moderate insomnia
Some times I listen to very calm relaxing instrumental music (Pink Floyd, some Grateful Dead…). I follow the music and kind of allow myself to fall into a meditative trance around it. The only problem is the fact that if I snap out of it for any reason, it’s harder to get back to sleep…
Try being an insomniac, and working graveyard shift, when your body wants to know what the hell you think you’re doing dragging it out at some ungodly hour of the morning anyway.
You never really adjust to working graveyard, the way you would to swing. You just learn to cope.
I’ve lain awake many a night until midnight or later (bedtime is usually around six or seven) when I need to get up at 2:30am.
I’ve found that turning the TV to a moderately interesting show helps (or a halfway decent talk radio program will also do the trick). Something interesting enough that if you’re stuck being awake, at least you have something to watch or listen too, but not so fascinating that you would mind missing it if you do fall asleep. I’ve found that I have a fairly high rate of drifting off to sleep in mid program, and getting enough sleep to be able to function.
