Fucking maskholes and vaxholes

You sound like a real fucking dipshit.

For nearly a year and a half, this thread has been Pitting the deluded dumbfuck maskholes who refuse to comply with anti-COVID protocols about mask wearing. Especially when said maskholes are directly flouting legal and/or management directives requiring mask wearing.

If you want to use a different definition of the word “maskhole” that is more flattering to the feelings of those deluded dumbfucks, you’re free to do so. But your revisionist definition won’t get a lot of traction around this thread.

The trouble is that what you’re being “tolerant” of is willful ignorance, delusion, disinformation, conspiracy thinking, and selfish disregard for the safety of others. Tolerance of willful ignorance and its associated bullshit is not looked upon kindly around these boards.

I’m gonna be obnoxious and block you, too. And it’s permitted to say who’s on your ignore list in the Pit.

Your definition is wrong; that’s one problem you have.

What about the employees who want to be safe or keep their families safe? Oh, don’t bother answering. I already know you don’t care.

You know, I’m gonna be an obnoxious narcissist too. Oh, and a sheeple. block

We’re in agreement that there’s nothing stopping you from using a revisionist definition of “maskhole” to coddle the feelings of deluded dumbfucks, yes.

I think we’re probably not in agreement about whether you should be condoning such deluded dumbfuckery, ethically speaking. (Hint: I’m the one who thinks you shouldn’t.)

Way ahead of you there! I’m even seeing some job postings now that require proof of vaccination (or genuine medical excuse).

Now if only a massive number of like-minded people would do likewise!

. . . you may know somebody in a similar situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a situation like that there’s only one thing you can do and that’s walk into the HR office wherever you are, just walk in say “HR boss, I’m quitting for a job with a mask and vax mandate”. And walk out. You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he’s really sick and they will fire him on the spot. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they’re both health nuts and they’ll fire both of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in saying “HR boss, I’m quitting for a job with a mask and vax mandate” and walking out. They may think it’s an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in saying “HR boss, I’m quitting for a job with a mask and vax mandate” and walking out. And friends they may thinks it’s a movement.

And that’s what it is, the Alice’s Restaurant Pro-Vax Anti—Covid-Massacree Movement, and all you got to do to join is say it the next time it come’s around on the guitar.

So, there weren’t fucking maskholes literally knocking down face mask displays at Target stores; physically tearing masks off of other peoples faces; calling Child Protective Services when they saw children wearing face masks (because Tucker Carlson told them to)? Did you do these things? Good for you if not. But other people did. Those fucking maskholes weren’t so tolerant of others.

Sez the Scarecrow!

I’m a big fan of Penn and Teller so just in case you are also a fan, I’m going to leave you with this link:

Oh, I’m not going to bother to block you. I doubt you will be here much longer and I’m all kinds of lazy. Looking up the link for the video is all the bother you are worth.

I’m so sorry.

I think you are lying. And I don’t really care enough to bother anymore.

You want unmasked, potentially infected people spewing their germs at you? Have at it!

A total of 9,335 student SARS-CoV-2 tests were performed during January–May 2021, including 1,009 (10.8%) diagnostic tests and 8,326 (89.2%) surveillance tests; students might have been tested more than once. Of all tests conducted, 265 (2.8%) yielded a positive SARS-CoV-2 result; no student received two positive test results. Among students with a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result, 378 close contacts were named (mean = 1.4 close contacts per case), 26 (6.9%) of whom reported only masked exposure; 352 (93.1%) reported any unmasked exposure. Close contacts had a median of one exposure incident (range = one–16). Reported exposures occurred between roommates, significant others, or in off-campus social gatherings. Among the 378 close contacts, 116 (30.7%) received a positive test result. Percentages of positive test result rates were substantially higher among contacts with any unmasked exposure (114 of 352; 32.4%) than among those who had masked exposure only (two of 26; 7.7%) (aOR = 5.4, 95% CI = 1.5–36.5; p = 0.008) and for those who were unvaccinated (33.0%) or partially vaccinated (20.8%) compared with those who were fully vaccinated (none) (p = 0.007) (Table).

Close contacts with any unmasked exposure to persons with COVID-19 had significantly higher odds of receiving a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result compared with those who had only masked exposure. In addition, close contacts who had multiple exposures, whether masked or unmasked, had higher odds of a positive test result than did those with only a single exposure. The percentage of positive test results among close contacts in this study (30.7%) was similar to that observed in previous studies (approximately 31%) ( 2 , 3 ). Consistent with findings from studies in nonuniversity settings ( 4 , 5 ), the findings from this study reinforce that universal masking and having fewer encounters in close contact with persons with COVID-19 helps prevent further transmission in in-person university settings.

I mean, we non-maskholes are all already aware that mask-wearing is by no means totally effective in preventing the spread of COVID. But “not totally effective” is nowhere near the same thing as “completely useless”.

What maskholes like PennTeller fail to realize, or just selfishly don’t care about, is that the point of not-totally-effective measures is the benefits of their aggregate impact. No, mask-wearing is not guaranteed to keep you from getting COVID, or even to keep you from spreading COVID to others. But it is guaranteed, statistically speaking, to significantly reduce the numbers of people who get and spread COVID.

Anybody who stupidly and/or selfishly decides that those aggregate benefits aren’t worth the minor inconvenience of their wearing a mask, or mistakenly imagines that mask-wearing is nothing more than an individual choice about personal risk, is a classic maskhole.

I take it you haven’t seen how many laughing votes that reports about COVID deaths get on Facebook? Or how many of the comments start with the laughing emoji or LOL?

Don’t kid yourself: the people all frothed up about this are not decent people. They’re not even all trolling.

(Edit: no clue how part of my previous post wound up in there.)

The number 2 horse is “Paranoia”.
With “I Have Faith” as the jockey
This horse comes out of nowhere & it’s hard to put it near any class. Some say it’s stable is the Holy Star stable in Jerusalem, but it’s lineage is questionable at best.

The number 1 horse is “No Mask COVID”
with “breakthrough cases” as the jockey
Coming from the “Holy Shit More Variants” stable, this horse seems unpredictable, going up and down every two months. Still, I’d be very careful in betting against this two-year-old…

PS- I always have fun, Penn. See my ticket…?
