Fucking NJ Dems

No. I can not disagree more. We want to stop this from happening at any time or in anyone’s favor. And luckily progressives in NJ agree with me

Bolding mine.

:smack: You’re playing Marquess of Queensberry Rules while our opponent is kicking us in the nuts.

Yeah. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. It is not a conservative ideology that the Democratic Party is facing here. If Trump was the driving force of a party dedicated to a person who is a fiscal conservative, family oriented, small business owner. Maybe.

This is different.

“Different” is to understatement what “galaxy” is to big.

Whose worse, the Republicans or the Democrats?
Answer - BOTH
The new NJ governor absolutely sucks, but then again so did the last one and the one before

“Who’s”, I think.

Anyway, I thought this thread ended up proving that they are not equivalent, but sure, be a lazy fuck and assume they are both equally bad. There’s must be a law that both sides must be the same, for ever and ever, amen.

McGreevy was governor - he got caught committing ‘contract fraud’ and he had to resign.
A NJ senator named Corzine saw that the governorship was vacant and TOOK it. he was not elected to the open position - he TOOK it.
Bob Menendez, a US House rep saw the senate seat vacated and he TOOK it. Bob Menendez was not elected to the US Senate - he TOOK the seat. This is how he became a senator.
Albio Sires saw the US Rep seat vacant and TOOK it - he wasn’t elected.
McSally was appointed as US senator the other day. She wasn’t voted in - she TOOK the position.

This is how Feinstein came into power - first a Mayor of San Francisco and then US Senator

Strange how no one notices and no one cares.
Republican Martha McSally Did Not Win Her Election. Why Will She Be a Senator Next Year?
https://www.thenation.com/article/republican-martha-mcsally-did-not-win-her-election-why-will-she-be-a-senator-next-year/

What are you talking about? “Took” it. How does that work exactly? Do I just print some letterhead and show up at the Capitol building?

Maybe

They’re het up about appointed senators. But the governors who appoint them are elected by the people of the state, and they can only serve at most two years without facing the voters themselves, so I can’t get too exercised about that.

Then progressives in NJ are doomed to a permanent minority.

Republicans shouldn’t even be allowed to run for office, let alone hold it. They’ve proven themselves time again to be enemies of democracy, the American people, America itself, and the entire human race. They need to be run out of office by any means necessary and permanently disbanded, just like Germany did to the Nazis.

Because they didn’t TAKE them, they were GIVEN them.

If your recent postings are indicative of the quality of contribution we can expect, you’ll find your stay here shorter than the attention paid to Topix.

This thread was originally about the NJ Dems attempt at grabbing permanent majority status. Happily, they failed, due to other NJ Dems and progressives fighting them.

If you want to just mention bad politicians, that probably belongs in another thread. For bad NJ Politicians, you forgot Robert Toricelli. There are corrupt politicians in both parties, but the Republican Party itself seems corrupted by this president and their various attempts at limited voter rights. Happily, the Democrats don’t seem to want to go down that path. So, yes, both sides have corrupt politicians. So what? But, both parties are not equal these days in terms of their awfulness.

As to your point about senators getting appointed rather than elected, I really have no idea how that is relevant to this thread.

Welcome to the board. I’m sure you’ll be contributing great things here.

Has Bricker weighed in? Don’t the Democratic legislators have a fiduciary duty to the voters who elected them to use all legal means to strengthen their power?

In the latest Wisconsin shenanigans thread, puddleglum played the part of “if it’s legal and it helps my side, it’s good”, not Bricker.

Pretty great:

This. We don’t have a Fox (Pravda) and don’t want one.
