Piece of shit Win98, I know it’s Win98, I fucking hate it…and no Santi, I don’t have a lot of programs loading, the only things that are loading is my Sound Blaster and the modem…very easy programs, it’s the fucking OS…I wish MS would get their shit together and get the bug out of Win2000 Pro…ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
I KNOW it’s Win98, I have used this shit for months and months with 30 machines, and don’t have the same crap with Win95…
How about LAN networked 3D games?
Whenever a Win98 machine is used as the server it can’t handle H/L with 4 players or more.
Win 95 seems ok.
We’ve all got 10/100 network cards plus it all goes through a hub.

Tech, shouldn’t your kinky sexual practices be posted about in MPSIMS? I won’t go into the dangers of sleeping with an OS as crusty and kludgy as win98…I assume you at least practiced safe hex and had it wear a diskcondom, otherwise you might have ended up with a corruption of your precious registry. 
That aside, I seem to be in the minority in that I prefer win98SE to win95. win95 was nothing but trouble to configure in comparision to win98, but then that still isn’t saying much, as win98 crashes on me quite regularly. (And people used to claim my trusty Ami was unstable… hah!!! )
Any OS that immediately claims 90% of the available RAM when you have almost half a gig of it and is as unresponsive as win95/98 is, is a kludge, pure and simple.

May have something to do with it being an upgrade. When I ‘upgraded’ from 3.1 to 95 I had nothing but problems. People who had a fresh install of 95 had no problems. Likewise the 98-2nd I’m using now is a fresh install and it works flawlessly.
Just found out why Win98 kept grinding to a halt in 3D games-turns out that one of the networked players has a digital 3D system which brought the whole caboodle down .
Now he’s stopped using it everything is fine.

I have had problems with Win 98 on virtually every machine that I have worked on that uses Win98…around 28 machines.
This machine is a fresh install, one can bypass installing Win 95, which is what I had to do to get the HPT drivers to work for my hard drive.
Well Windows Me (Millennium Edition) is coming out later this year. If you upgrade to that you will probably not have the same problems… you will probably have different ones then. I just wanted to give you something to look forward to (maybe, maybe not). I guess we will have to wait and see.
