Fulfill your dream...become a music critic TODAY!!

Come to my site, http://www.anet-stl.com/~mrmann1/index.html . There you will find songs that redefine the word “amateur” and “cheap”. Using nothing but the Encore notation program and an Alesis keyboard, I’ve made some MP3s of my prog-rock MIDIs, and then put them on my site. Feel free to download just the MIDIs, but beware: they don’t sound too pretty. But my question for the Teeming Millions is: do the MP3s sound pretty? I don’t mean quality-wise, I’d just like some input on the songs themselves. Imagine a singer and real instruments in place of a piano and synthesized ones. I prefer constructive criticism to flames and esoteric essays about robots and pants.

(PS: Please note that I don’t have much experience with guitars or singing or drums, so I’d also like to know how feasible these songs are to play…I try to stick mostly with power chords because I know they’re easy, but it’s hard to stay so simple.)

Sorry, I gave up my dreams of becoming a music critic years ago, but the heady memories of hangin’ with Lester* and the whole Creem Magazine crowd** still linger.

    • Bangs. And the extent of my “hangin’” was a phone interview for J class. But I still have the tape and got an A for the article.

** - Whom I, obviously, never met.

Unbelievable, first we get a member of the famous Five Americans on the board, and now someone who once spoke with Lester Bangs. We’re truly in the presence of greatness here.

Oh, Skwerl, I’ll try to check them out when I get home.
