Full cream dried milk

Whenever I have looked in UK supermarkets, the only dried milk powder I can find is made from skimmed milk. Is there such a thing as full cream dried milk? My wife insists that she has some recipes that require it.

Hmmm, I’ve never seen it offered for sale and I would think such a thing would have a very limited shelf life as it would be 10% fat - this might also make it difficult to present as a powder.

If the recipe calls for dried whole milk, you could probably get away with adding a knob of unsalted butter.

(that is, the butter in addition to the skimmed milk powder)

Problem being that fat does not store well, as mentioned but more importantly interferes with the drying process. It is available, however – look for a product called “Milkman” or “Kiss of Cream”; iirc it is made by the addition of dried cream solids after dehydration. They are both pretty good as far as dried milk goes, which isn’t very far.

I was just considering starting a thread about why they don’t sell dried whole cow milk. Just the other day I saw and bought a packet of Myenberg powdered goat milk made from whole goat milk. If they can do it for goat milk, I’m sure they could do it with cow milk. There is no expiration date printed on the package, so I presume it stays good indefinitely. It does have that “powdered milk” taste, but not nearly as bad as powdered cow milk.

Now that I poke around on the Internet, I see that some places do sell powdered whole cow milk. King Arthur Flour won’t let me link to the product description, but it is item 1249 “Dried Whole Milk” 8 oz. for $3.75. http://www.kingarthurflour.com/ There are probably cheaper sources if you look around.
