Fullscreen vs widescreen DVD? Huh?

What is the difference between a fullscreen dvd & a widescreen dvd?

You really want to open that can of worms again?

Full screen:
The picture is "stretched to fit your tv screen. However, you will miss some of what was actually shot on camera during filming. (A slight amount)

Wide screen:
Or “letterbox” format, you will have a black band on the top and bottom of your tv screen. You will see the image as intended by the camera, the way is’t shown in the theater.

I and most of the people I know prefer wide screen.

check these out

in particular “Bug’s Life” from Pixar

Please read the linked threads/sites in this thread. Fullscreen doesn’t “stretch” the picture, or cut off a “slight amount” - it chops off (usually) about a third.

But I suggest to anyone that really wants to see both sides of the debate argued check out the can of worms previously linked, and let this thread die a quick death. Nothing good can come of this.

Just join the rest of us here in the 21st century and buy a widescreen TV to spare us all the pain of another one of these threads… Please…

My Question Is Answered. Thank you for your kindness. Please, no wars!

::DMark gets out can opener and pulls down tin of worms from shelf::

Actually, I do have a nice new plasma, widescreen television, but some of the DVD’s in widescreen still need to be “fitted” to fill the screen from top to bottom…so even in the widescreen format on a widescreen television, there is still some fudging of size to be done.
