Fundamentalist dickhead rant #fill-in-the-blank

These bastards are so high and fucking mighty that they want no monies from evil sources. Here’s a businessman who decided to take up a collection and back it with a percentage of store sales to benefit a firefighter and the community, and the Mayor doesn’t want the “dirty” money. With the cost of running a fire department being what it is, any businessman or woman who is sufficiently civic-minded to help my department will be welcomed with the same appreciative spirit in which they have chosen to give.

Message to the self-righteous: Take a minute or two to read about how your boss hung around with the folk you scorn.

First of all, there’s nothing in the article identifying the religious beliefs or religious affiliation of anyone involved.

Secondly, I can sort of see the mayor’s point. Certainly you can see the potential ethical problems about a city accepting money from someone they’re suing.

The linked article doesn’t say anything about religion that I can see. And while I think anyone should be allowed to donate, this seems like a publicity stunt on the part of Cornetta. There is no way Cornetta could not have known his donation would be controversial, right or wrong. If he was truly concerned about giving to a worthy cause, he could have donated anonymously or given indirectly somehow. It seems to me that he was more interested in making a point.

What’s wrong with that? There’s nothing unusual or immoral about people/businesses making donations to make themselves look good.

For that matter, I don’t understand why it would be controversial. Doesn’t the city already collect taxes from this business? Why not donations?

If it’s being done specifically to make the recipient of the donation look bad, then I would disagree. And again, this is not passing judgment on whether Cornetta is in the right for doing so. I’ve glanced over some of the documents of the Federal civil suit (shoot me now?), and I can’t make that call. I will say, however, that the whole point of the suit seems to be that Fulton County hasn’t (and won’t, unless they lose the suit) grant him a business license to operate, so who knows if they’re collecting taxes from him?

Clinton got a blow job.

This has been a long going issue between the very new and upscale town of John’s Creek and the owner of The Love Shack, a chain of adult novelty stores throughout Atlanta.

The guy who owns The Love Shack, Cornetta, has been pulling stunts like this because every step of him trying to open and run his business has been met with several hurdles along the way. A great write up of the details is here:

I for one am tickled to see Cornetta doing this as it is making the people who run John’s Creek look even more foolish than they already are in trying to shut him down.

Really? First I’ve heard of it.

It was from Hillary, right?

I’m stumped: I’ve read the article a couple of times, and I still can’t see where it has anything to do with fundamentalism.

The religious part is a stretch, but I would guess that it is coming from the way the city is “equating” porn stores with bad.

I thought it was James Carville.

Fair enough. Fundy was probably not the best choice of words, but that came to mind when picturing the Mayoral gasbag finger wagging about keeping their pure lil Bible belt town free of evil influences.

I’m sending you an invoice for a gallon of brain bleach, Lib.

And it’s not gonna be the discount Wal*Mart brand, either. I’m going upscale, with one of the leading national brands.

Only if it would help her get a head.

The mayor actually didn’t say anything in the article.

From the linked article:

scratches head

You have it wrong, it would help him get head.

Please return to your regularly scheduled Hillary bashing.
