He also just joined another board I hang out at a few weeks ago. Seems as though he’s a U.S. military type stationed in the Gulf, training the Saudis. Probably bored out of his mind.
A question I asked myself just about three hours ago.
The posters seem to use Arabic and quotes from the Qu’ran to prove they are Islamic.
Nice game, eh? Outsiders need not apply. Makes arguments simpler.
On the other hand, they kinda make me chuckle. Nothing like telling the FBI who you are, and how extreme your viewpoints are. Saves a lot of undercover work.

Actually that board is set up and run by the FBI to lure the extremists. 
By their definition, “non-Muslim” seems to be “anyone who doesn’t agree with us.” With that definition, non-Muslims are really quite easy to spot; a Muslim who deosn’t agree with them isn’t a true Muslim.
Hmm…never would’ve guessed the website registrant lives on Staten Island. ::shrug::

If I were a better liar, though, and knew my Koran better, it would be quite tempting to go undercover and quote some contradictory Koran stuff at “the boyzzzz.” As I’m an American Jewish feminist agnostic with a big mouth, though, I think the results wouldn’t be very convincing. The idea sure is tempting, though.

I looked around in there too. It seems that when an opened minded muslim does post, they are quickly declared not a true muslim and restricted to non-muslim only section. It makes me really sad to see some of the attitudes on that board. I really wish the SDMB could lure in an intelligent and open minded memeber of the islam faith, and large Q&A session with them.
If someone wants to risk killing the hamster by running a search, now would be a good time to bump Muslim Guy’s “Ask the Muslim Guy” threads.

Seriously speaking, this really does look like a set-up. I did a search and can’t find any posts prior to Dec 2001. If it started then, that would be kind of an interesting date to start this kind of a message board, eh?
I wonder how many of the posters are agents? Not that the remarkably sociopathic and naive ( a dangerous combo if ever there was one ) clientele would care.

Not only is there NO ‘Efrem’ on that board there is no similar named person ‘ephrem, ephriam, ephraim, efraim, efriam, efrem, Efriam, Efraim, Ephraim, Ephriam…’ registered there at all.
Explain yourself!!!

Efrem, I think grienspace was counting you among the open-minded Muslims at this message board, in response to reprise’s suggestion about Muslim Guy’s posts. And that he did a search for you on the idiot board, the implication being that he didn’t find you there.
That would be my guess too, efrem. No harm intended, probably.
We can’t stop you from registering there, but please, don’t mention The Straight Dope. We’ve had a rather unpleasant experience with a fundamentalist Christian message board a couple of years ago, and truth be told, they pale compared to these people.
I’d say leave them be, but if you must go and post there, remember that you’re not promoting the Dope in any way shape or form.
