“There’s Efrem as well” was meant to convey that we, the SDMB have you as well as a spokesperson for the world of Islam which you’ve got to admit is pretty scary from the window we have on that message board. I as well as other’s I think would be interested in your comments on them.
I registered and looked for you on that board, not really expecting to find you, but if I was going to find a sane voice in there, I was sure as hell going to report that our** Efrem** was fighting the good fight. Not that I expect that of you, because quite frankly, I myself don’t have the guts to say what I think in there.
Well yes Coldfire, but I couldn’t possibly any longer carry on a conversation let alone post in my first language. I can understand Dutch speech spoken at a moderate pace but with some difficulty which is why I have some empathy for Efrem

Maybe our Humble Administrators could talk to the FBI about getting a larger, faster server to host the SDMB. The pages on that board loaded lightning fast.
All kidding aside, I found that message board to be absolutely disgusting.
I’d say the chances are very high that it’s ant-bait set up by the FBI, and some of the posts seem to be trolling for incriminating statements-- like this one from SoulJah:

If you guys are really concerned about people knowing where the sudden attention is coming from, can I suggest copy/paste instead of following that link as they can probably check referrers? I’ve seen this before, one board is laughing at another, but the admin figures out where the hits are coming from and things get nasty.
I’ve just done a whois search on the domain name and then googled the registrant. It’s kinda interesting to find out that they also run taliban-news.com.
Also, it looks like the owner’s address (in New York, BTW) that whois turned up doesn’t exist - At least Yahoo maps couldn’t find it.

Huh. Very interesting- a religion entirely spread through killing your potential converts? That doesn’t sound effective. What a bunch of screwed-up wackjobs they are on that site.
I think Larry is probably correct. In any event, I’m sure the site is being monitored and that any number of the registrants are agents even if it wasn’t set up by the government.
I wonder if we’re going to return to the bad old days of the 60’s and 70’s. My understanding is that at one point, more than half of the active membership of the KKK was made up of FBI agents or informants.
This created a pretty silly situation. Public/Congress: “Look at how big and dangerous the KKK is! Do something!” <FBI increases surveillance and infiltration> Public/Congress: “Aaack! The KKK is still growing! Help!” etc., etc.
It’d be both understandable and a shame if we had the same situation here. “Look at those violent nutjobs! Islam is a dangerous religion! Why isn’t the FBI doing something about this?” What if the FBI is doing something? To wit, pretending to be a bunch of violent nutjobs in order to draw other violent nutjobs out of the wordwork?
Gobear, do you actually have to ask if this is Mainstream Islamic thought? Did you actually READ anything on that board, or are you just looking for evidence of the “BIG BAD ISLAM” to continue your little vendetta?
Actually, Twisty, I was asking a question. I don;t know what vendetta you’re talking about. I would like someone more knowledgeable than I to tell me these guys are at the very extreme end of the bell curve. Given what’s going on in the MidEast these days, I don’t think that the question is inappropriate.
And, yeah, I read the board–it’s populated by hate-filled relgious bigots. What’s your point?
Has anyone noticed how they show member status under the names? It says under soem of them things like. “ready for war”, and “jihadi”. That’s one more frightening thing about that board.
You gotta wonder about the FBI when a bunch of, well, us can figure out their little plot. Since this is obviously not just a board of FBI spooks talking to each other (unless the FBI is completely freaking moronic), some people are falling for it.

I rate it revolting because of the views it professes and it’s interpretation of Islam, moronic because most of the conversations in it are just…well…moronic, and sad because many of the members are young teenagers which might grow into stupid, intolerant and maybe dangerous fanatics
