Fundraising for disability vehicle - PLEASE READ

Ahhh, shit mate. Life’s delivering you the sourest lemons at the moment. :frowning:

But I’d reneg on your proposed soliloquy if I were you. I don’t care how geeky the chick, or how superb the Valentine’s dinner offerings: If you spun that spiel on me, I’d chuck your arse to the gutter as quick as look atch’a!

Yeah, you’re right–it’s probably too hardcore. You have to start with a treatise on ancient paradoxes, just to soften them up first.

Such a soppy bloke you are Lobot…and people complain that romance is dead?

I know. It’s a gift, really.

Desisting from aiding and abetting your pathetic attempts to woo some chick with Turing Tests and Ancient Paradoxes, what’s the upcoming conference about?

It’s on genetics, specifically in livestock. (I’m at a university with a big agricultural focus, so I kind of fell into the animal/livestock side of things.) I’m writing a major piece of software as part of the research, which I hope to have done (in a preliminary version) by Monday, then write the paper on it, which is due near the end of the month. The pressure’s on!

The stuff I’m doing will hopefully have wider implications. The crux of it is I’m trying to pretty much upgrade the model genomics is based on.

Saw that you’d topped 16k! And that you’d cobbled the old ride back together temporarily.

Time for another bump and share the link around.

Hey Sarabellum1976, thanks for the bump.

Honestly, it was great to get out of the house. You don’t really notice how being cooped up for five weeks straight is affecting you until you actually get out for an evening. It was just so good to be out and about again, if briefly.

I can’t push it, however, because I need the van in working order for my upcoming hospital visits. But just going to the movies with my fiancee was a very nice way to restore my sanity for a bit. (We saw Frozen, FWIW, which helped to keep things light as well.)

And yes, we keep moving forward with the total! I know we’ll get there, and it’s a very exciting thought indeed.

oops, I accidentally posted to this thread, which moved it to the top of the list…

Ouch! Stubbed my toe on this thread someone left laying around.

Good thing, otherwise I wouldn’t have seen it (infrequent user).

Same here—maybe not infrequent user, but I’d certainly missed this the first time around.

I’m also amused that it was someone with a username so similar to the OPs who bumped it. I’m not* Lobot**! I’m…er…BObot. Right then.*

Thanks for the bump, guys.

The update is that… nothing’s really changed. Things have petered out and I’m waiting for a venue to be organised for the trivia night/fundraiser.

Hopefully I’ll have the new vehicle for my wedding in September!

New donation! Yay!

Now lest we forget that Lobot needs new wheels folks.

Keep the shares, thoughts and donations happening.

Looks like there was another uptick in the donations for a bit, but it’s cooled off now. Still, pushing 18k. Pretty cool to see things are still moving along.

Did you do some sort of trivia fundraiser to raise awareness again?

Nope, not yet. I posted an update due to arranging for some quotes–that was enough to get it back on people’s radars momentarily.

FWIW, I should have all the necessary quotes lined up in the next week or two, which will then allow me to approach a local club as a venue for the trivia night. So a boost may be just around the corner!

Thanks again for your interest and support, guys.

Dion, a lot of people use the snopes.com site to check the veracity of donation websites. I’d like to suggest you contact them with information verifying all your details-- whatever they ask for-- because eventually someone is going to send them a link to your site, if it hasn’t happened already, and they will have the info to say that the site is real.

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ve contacted them, so we’ll see what happens.
