Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of music by:
The Chambers Brothers
The Meters
and
Sly and the Family Stone
Great stuff!!!
Anyone have any recomendations of other bands along these lines?
Or good albums?
Or whatever?

I really like George Clinton and P-Funk. I bought a Rhino CD called Millenium Funk Party. It has a lot of r&b and funk music from the 70’s like Earth Wind & Fire and Cameo and Curtis Mayfield. That CD might give you some ideas about what other bands you might like.
Parliament / Funkadelics
Con-funk-tion
I’ll think of others…
The Dazz Band
The Maggotrons
Hashim
real early Egyptian Lover
[Jersey Jay] Morris Day and the Time, Beeee-yotch!![/Jersey Jay]
GrandMaster Flash
Gapp Band
Vanity 6
Old Funkadelic, Graham Central Station, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Mandrill, Jimi Hendrix and the Band of Gypsies, Sky Church, Red Hot Chili Peppers, War, anything of George Clinton origin…
I’m seeing P-Funk for the third time this August:)
The Ohio Players!
I can’t believe i forgot about them

K.C. and the Sunshine Band?
Sorry, couldn’t resist. Old Commodores, perhaps?
Red Hot Chili Peppers?? What??
Beck sometimes has a certain funk to him that I like.
Most of Prince from 80’s was quite funky and anything involving George Clinton. I quite like the Brothers Johnson and The Time too.
You might like Bad Mutha Goose, although they came around late 80’s early 90’s, but their covers of Parliment and Funkadelic as well as originals were great.
I’m not sure if this fits the profile but Infectious Grooves is pretty funky and rocky.
