I guess someone did mention Spinal Tap already, missed that.
My personal favorites:
Holy Grail
Raising Arizona
This is Spinal Tap
Best in Show
Strange Brew
A few of my choices. These are for funniest, not best. There are some much better comedies around, but these made me laugh the most.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The General
Duck Soup
A Night at the Opera
Galaxy Quest
Bringing Up Baby
Young Frankenstein
M. Hulot’s Holiday
Ruthless People
Arthur
Princess Bride
This Is Spinal Tap
Life of Brian
I’m gonna have to go with Planes, Trains and Automobiles as one of the best, that and The Life of Brian.
I didn’t see these, so I thought I’d add them:
Rushmore (I think it’s funny. You may not. People seem polarized on this one)
Bottle Rocket (see Rushmore)
The Sure Thing
Bull Durham
Everyone has pretty much named all my extreme favorites, such as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, History of the World, etc.
However, I haven’t seen Kentucky Fried Movie on the list. The segment titled A Fistful of Yen is what makes this movie for me. A double-barrelled sendup of Bruce Lee and Clint Eastwood!
The ones that I think are the funniest have already been mentioned, but here are a few more that I think are funny.
The Party
Betsy’s Wedding
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, World
Beetlejuice
Uncle Buck
Brother Where Art Thou
Neighbors
A couple that haven’t been mentioned yet:
Tommy Boy
Dumb and Dumber
Short Time
All of these had me really laughing hard.
My all-time favorites would have to be Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Christmas Vacation.
Some already mentioned, but here’s my list anyway, in no particular order:
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
Airplane
Top Secret
Rat Race
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut
Life of Brian
Office Space
Look Who’s Talking
Oh, and I can’t believe I forgot Liar, Liar. IMHO, Jim Carrey’s best comedy, and I happen to like most of them.
Chaim Mattis Keller
Spinal Tap
The Gods must be Crazy
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back(I thought it was really funny)
Best in Show
The First Austin Powers
I’m sure this will change, these are the ones I can think of at the moment.
Kentucky Fried Movie
Amazon Women on the Moon
I was pretty pissed off the Academy decided to create the best animated category after South Park. Shrek my ass. And on that note, I nominate Orgazmo as one of the funniest comedies I’ve ever seen. Also in the running are Army of Darkness, Clue, Trading Places, and Spies Like Us, which I like to pair with Stripes for a great double feature. And one of my guiltiest pleasures is the Mark Harmon masterpiece, Summer School.
The original Naked Gun. When Leslie Nielsen’s at his best, no one can touch him.
And Beetlejuice.
I agree with almost everything that has been posted so far, but one movie has been omitted that shouldn’t be.
Jackass, the movie
I was not a fan of the short-lived TV show, and didn’t expect to like it when I was coerced into going, but I swear it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
It is also one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen.
Thanks! I must admit that I"ve never used ebay before but I’d be willing to give it a shot fot this, great movie!.
In no particular order
The Big Labowski
Raising Arizona (I don’t know they were jamies with yodas and shit on them)
Airplane!
Duck Soup
MAS*H
Planes Trains and Automobiles
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Mystery Science Theatre 3000 :The Movie
Best In Show
Army of Darkness
A Night at the Opera
