Think of a time when you witnessed someone get a big shock that was funny to all who were watching. I thought of this because a recent incident with my girlfriend.
We were at the supermarket doing our shopping, and as we passed through the seafood department we noticed a display of large crabs. She’s from another country where this isn’t the norm, and was horrified to see such a cruel and ghoulish display. So she bends down to stroke one’s shell, cooing, “Oh, I can’t believe they killed you…”
At which point the crab looks up at her and menacingly raises a claw.
She shrieked while jumping back about ten feet. I guess she would have preferred them dead…
The classic example from history is the time Johnny Carson had on the animal lady with a baby cheetah. It was in an open top cage. Johnny explained to Ed that it was important to not show fear to animals. He then leans down to look at the cat. It took one look at him and lunged.
Johnny jumped and screamed like a girl! It was such a genuine moment. Nothing showbiz about it, until he regained his wits an instant later and jumped into Ed’s arms.
