Funplex/arcade in Houston mall back in the 80s?

I have a thought it could be Memorial City Mall before the big renovation but am unsure.

What I distinctly remember is the place was on the second floor, but the entrance was an up and down escalator on the first floor was was strange(I’m assuming the missing space was used for kitchens or something). I don’t remember if you had to pay to go inside or if it was like Chuckie Cheese, I am pretty sure the place served pizza and other foods and had a small dining area with tables.

It was surprisingly large and not only had arcades and games like that but indoor playgrounds with slides and ballpits, AND even motorized carnival style rides maybe even a small rollercoaster. The place was big which is what sticks in my head.

Anyone have a clue?

Exhilarama or Kid’s Kingdom?

Memorial City Mall has always, to my knowledge, been a single-story structure save for maybe the department stores. Are you thinking of Fame City/Chado’s Funplex?

Pretty sure that’s what he’s thinking of. Was it out on the west side of town at Eldridge @ Beechnut, and had a waterpark next door?

(is it just me, or does Chado’s Funplex totally sound like some kind of low-rider/cholo theme park?)

Or are you thinking of Nathan’s Physical Whimsical in Sharpstown mall? I vaguely remember the commercials…

could it have been FameCity/FUnplex? I believe it is still there but no water park.

Did the place you’re thinking of have indoor mini golf? If so, I was likely there 25ish years ago and can get the name for you from a relative who is local.

Sounds to me that’s what it was.
