future hall of famers in NFL

Not quite sure what you’re asking here. Jason Hanson was a kicker. Please reword your question.

Imho, the Steelers not mentioned as automatic HOF entires makes the Hal angry.

You won’t like it when The Hal gets angry.

Huh? They don’t induct teams.

If the Hall actually considered punters, I’d put in Jeff Feagles for his longevity and coffin-corner abilities.

Ray Guy was one of the 17 finalists last year, actually. Despite my hatred for the Raiders, I would love to see him inducted. Speaking of Raiders, I’d put Shane Lechler ahead of Feagles.

Sure Ray Guy made the finalist list, but considering his reputation (although I remember a thread on here which said he was overrated) - if he can’t get in, it’s very doubtful ANY punter will make it.

If the Hall wasn’t biased against punters, both Lechler and Feagles would be going in.

I knew I shouldn’t listen to everything I hear in a bar. :smack:

Relax. I was just saying that his numbers are high because of the offense he played in. However, I think that’s why he doesn’t “feel” like a HoF-er to me. I always thought of Bruce as “the man” for the Rams and Holt was the guy on the other side who happened to catch a lot of balls. Not saying he’s not good or not worthy of consideration, just saying that he doesn’t “seem” (to me) like a Hall of Famer.

Interesting you brought it up when you did though. I was looking at former QBs and numbers of Super Bowl wins like 15 minutes earlier. Plunkett wasn’t all that great, but it seems two rings gets you on the preliminary list regardless because he’s been on there for years. If my quick brainstorm is correct, there’s only two active QBs with at least two rings (Brady and Roethlisberger). Two others active with at least two Super Bowl appearances (Favre and Warner). Not sure why I brought that up. Guess I just never gave it any thought before.

What do you all think: Tom Nalen? Especially you Bright… you seem to be the most knowledgeable/ opinionated poster in this thread.

Yes on Nalen. Like Shields, look at the ridiculous success of the Broncos running game during his tenure, mostly with an assortment of unremarkable RBs. *Someone *from that line has to make it.

Also, isn’t it funny how quickly we forget? Towards the end of their careers Nalen and Seau were just casually mentioned as obvious Hall of Famers whenever they played. Now, just a few years later, not only do we forget to include them, but we have to ask about and debate whether they belong.
Are there any other interior linemen (offense or defense) that we’re forgetting? How about LBs?

Well, you’re half right.

Honestly, I’ve never paid much attention to the Broncos, and I wasn’t really around for their Super Bowl runs, so I couldn’t offer an educated opinion on Nalen.

Jason Taylor maybe?
Defensive player of the year is always a big boost on the resume.

I don’t think so. Think we got all the shoo-ins and and possible shoo-ins.

Well, we didn’t touch on coaches. Dungy, Holmgren, Shanahan, Parcells…

Borrrring!

Nah. I didn’t mention Cowher- now watch what happens when the penny drops.

Nope, you didn’t. You forgot Mr. Gray Hoodie from Massachusetts too.

Maybe, but I think he’ll have an uphill climb.

Yeah, but he’s still in the league.

No way Taylor gets in. Never played the run, and writers notice that.
