The SDMB moderation has problems because…well, humans…err…etc. My experience is hardly exhaustive but I’ve never found a place with better moderation and I’ve been a moderator. Moderating is hard when you’ve got a lot of opinionated smug bastards for members (I know because I am one).
I’m not sure what the OP is trying to accomplish. He’s already made his opinion known re: moderation and the mods (apparently) disagree. I guess he could be a Joan of Arc and lead a bunch of members to likewise cancel their membership in an attempt to force change. Short of that it just feels like another attempt to “win” the argument. The only effect is to increase the likelihood (by a very small amount) that the SDMB gets shut down due to falling revenue. Since the OP is sticking around I assume he’d prefer that not happen.
Why can’t people just say “I disagree with the mods on this point” and move on? Why take it personally?

If I’m understanding the OP correctly, he is upset about the issue of racism and/or sexism, which he feels there is too much and/or not enough of on this board, and the way the moderators are not doing enough to support and/or oppose it.
I’m a little hazy on the details.

The moderation standards here have always been pedestrian. Racism and sexism, just show them up more obviously.
Because a lot of reasonable people disagree with your opinion. Is it possible for reasonable people to disagree with you (even on an important topic) without taking it personally?
Sure, people can disagree with me on, say, anarchism vs capitalism or religion vs atheism and I won’t take it personally, even though I consider those important. Racism is different. Yes, I will take it “personally”. Because it’s a personal insult. Mods may not see it that way - doesn’t make it not the case.
You may see it that way but that doesn’t make it the case. Regardless, if you really think that you’ve been personally insulted I don’t understand why you stick around. It feels like you’re still trying to win by amping up the emotions; you’re somehow thinking the TPTB will finally acquiesce because you’ve canceled your membership. You’ve taken your ball but instead of going home you’re still trying to persuade.

But anyway, we all have our crosses to bear. My hot button isn’t racism or sexism so much as just mindless idiocy, usually from here-today gone-tomorrow types but while they’re around there’s not really much to be done. As the saying goes, out there in the Real World, it’s not illegal to be an idiot or an asshole. I’m slightly aware of the history but not really sure what remedy the OP would consider appropriate that wouldn’t also deter serious conversations on real issues like race and religion. But maybe I’m not understanding the complaint.

And I want people to know why - not because I think that my actual 7 bucks or whatever is going to make a difference (and FYI, I usually go for the 2-year sub, so it’s more) but because the why could - or should, at any rate.
“Blacks are genetically inferior people” is not a serious conversation. Modding that isn’t going to kill debate on BLM or atheism vs theism.
