Galaxy Store is Using the Battery

I’ve got a Samsung Galaxy w/Android, and I’m pretty happy with it. Starting about a month ago, every day – Every Single Day – at 4:00, I get a warning, “Galaxy Store is Using the Battery.” It lasts until 7:00.

I have NEVER used Galaxy Store. I’ve never launched the app. I’ve certainly never installed anything from it. Why the HELL would it insist on running some background process for three hours Every (Oedipus) Day?

And how do I make it stop? The phone will not allow me to uninstall Galaxy Store. (Fancy that.) I don’t see any settings menus, but I might not know where to be looking. And my battery life isn’t very good: it’s draining faster these days than it used to. I bought a new battery, thinking that might be the issue, but I’m still losing about 4% of battery per hour, where it used to be about 1% an hour.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! As always, it is an article of faith with me that the SDMB knows the answer!

Sorry Coach, sometimes, that doesn’t work and for many of Samsung’s bloated malware stuff you can’t even force stop it let alone disable it.
I bought an s10e a few weeks ago and I’ve come to hate it. Slower than my old j3, prone to hanging for a few seconds at random times(quite frequently on here, discourse doesn’t get along well with brave browser) etc.
I have found a what could possibly be a way to uninstall all that crap with out rooting, but haven’t had time to try it yet.

Trinopus,I still haven’t mastered this place yet so no linky. if you go to XDA (a developer forum) and look for Neo3D, he has listed the stuff you can safely remove from my phone without rooting it. droids are pretty similar and its a good place to start looking for solutions specific to your phone
Oh yeah and how to do it

Damn edit window, sometimes wish it was a bit bigger.

What I was clumsily trying to add was how to remove the programs is included. What software is needed on a computer etc.

running_coach and DorkVader – thank you kindly for info. I tried deleting and disabling Galaxy Store, but the OS has it protected – obviously, as it’s intended to make money for them! There doesn’t seem to be any way to access setup options for that app.

I will look at the XDA forum, although I confess, I’m afraid to do anything kinky or advanced, as I’m not much of a programmer or power user.

For my s10e there are step by step directions as well a where to get the software needed for the removal etc. The might very well br something very similar for your phone. The folks at XDA are pretty good generally at documenting and publishing directions for stuff they’ve figured out

@Trinopus
So I tried it tonight and got rid of bixby. The software needed is a debugging tool. It wasn’t really all that difficult or technical, but it was time consuming. If you have a 10, 10+ or 10e galaxy or note, pm me and I will share a few tips for things that didn’t match up exactly as I expected.

I think I’m gonna just slide… I’m too afraid to download and install fixer-upper code. I am only barely competent to use the machine the way they want me to… But thank you very kindly for the offer of support!

I don’t blame you @Trinopus. That’s a fairly basic part of the Samsung OS to be removing with third-party tools. I wouldn’t be comfortable with it either, and I’m a software engineer by training.

I don’t think the behavior you’re seeing is normal. I don’t think the app should be acting that way, and removing it may make it harder to remove other Samsung apps in the future.

Thank you for the advice… Sometimes, the difference between cowardice and wisdom is a very fine line!
