If they had disqualified the winning horse/jockey, a week after the event, what happens with all the bets?
a. The winning bets that paid off the day after the event?
b. The bets that had the 2nd place horse as a winner?
If the horse is disqualified after the race is official, all bets stand, but prize money is redistributed.
The race was declared official a few minutes after it was run. If you had bet on the 2nd place horse, you would have been out of luck.
He’s cleared of any wrongdoing. The thing that looks like it’s in his hand is actually part of someone’s shirt.
To clarify: If you had a ticket on Funny Cide and they disqualified the horse today, you could still cash the ticket. Obviously, it’s logistically impossible to change the betting results after they’ve started paying out the money – you’re not likely to get the anything back from those who cashed in early.
When Dancer’s Image won the Derby in '68, if you bet on the horse at the track, you got a payoff. After the horse was disqualified, the bettors were still paid if they picked Dancer’s Image, but the purse money went to Forward Pass.
I imagine this policy is spelled out on the fine print of your betting ticket.
