Tim has four DQs.
EH has one (or possibly more).
KO has one (or possibly more).
Prof P has none.
etv has none.
#1 is Tom Waits.
#2 is indeed the Whizzer. Calling a guy in a yellow costume the Whizzer has long been a joke of the comics community.
#3 was N. C. Wyeth, father of Andrew.
2 DQs reserved.
Pondering, pondering… Do I really want to do X again?
IQ: Did “they” come to save you in a Monkees song?
Wario
the White Witch
DQ: In your most famous appearance/song, do the name(s) you are referred to include both a first and a last name?
Ugh, song lyrics are not one of my strengths. Gotta go with genericish questions for the few names I do know and hope for a shotgun hit.
IQ1: Are you the subject of a song written to celebrate a holiday?
IQ2: Are you described as walking within a song?
hmm… inspiration hits, this might conceivably be it…
IQ3: Are you mentioned in a song that also contains the lyric, “I am the Eggman”
Tim: IQ1 sounds more like a DQ.
Hmm… my intent was IQ, I am requesting a name of any W who is the subject of a song written to celebrate a holiday. I have such a W in mind and will provide it if SCAdian is unable to name any.
My intent was to craft a question that’s broad enough to potentially hit the actual answer by chance, yet narrow enough that the Host will not have an easy alternative in mind if that happens. Maybe I erred in the second part and made this one too broad.
Is that sort of tactic not considered appropriate here?
It’s okay. It happens all the time. Usually, the Host will respond with an appropriate answer that may or may not be the one you had in mind, and then you can rephrase your IQ to be more specific, and re-ask it.
Despite what Prof just told you, that’s still a violation of the difference between IQ and DQ. At least when I made that mistake.
Adam Warlock
holding a DQ, at least till I read the rest of the thread
IQ1: Are you lookin’ for the place called Lee Ho Fooks, gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein?
IQ2: Does Ray Davies sing about how he wishes he could be you?
IQ3: Are you peeking out from under a stairway, calling a name that’s lighter than air?
But of course!
Previous IQs:
Does your tomb include the seals of two presidencies which you held in your lifetime? - Yes, Woodrow Wilson, at the National Cathedral (with the seals for Princeton U. and the U.S. Presidency)
Did you chair the U.S. Bicentennial Commission? - John Warner, later to marry Elizabeth Taylor and serve in the U.S. Senate from Virginia
Did you burn most of your husband’s letters before you died, much to anguish of later historians? - Yes, Martha Washington, alas
DQ:
From a rock/pop song?
IQs:
Did JFK appoint you to the Supreme Court?
Were you a high school chemistry teacher who had an interesting second career?
Was Matthew Harrison Brady your fictional doppelganger?
DQ: Are you referred to by a title in your most popular song(Mister, Doctor, etc?)
DQ.
The only objection I have to this question is that I haven’t the faintest idea what the answer is. DQ.
Described as moving from one place to another by myself, yes, but not using the specific word “walking.” DQ.

No, and I’m not bending down to give you a rainbow, either. Not Windy.
Rats. Now I have the Muppets stuck in my head…

Aaaaaaand - that’s 20!
All outstanding DQs are hereby cancelled. Tell me the answers to the questions I missed, and talk it out amongst yourselves a bit if you want. Tim, EH, KO, Prof P and etv may each ask one DQ of the “Are you Firstname Lastname?” variety. I’ll be back tomorrow to check on progress…
Mine was D. W. Washburn.
A male character from an American rock/pop song of the 1960’s/70’s, both names, not referred to by a title, whose commonly occurring last name starts with W.
Time to meditate in the Mind Palace.
Ohhhhh!
I should know better than to tug on Superman’s cape, or to spit into the wind, or to pull the mask off that ol’ Lone Ranger.
DQ: Are you Big Jim Walker from You Don’t Mess Around With Jim by Jim Croce?
- Jolly old King Winceslas (sp?)
- The Wizard (Black Sabbath song, that’s his only name)
- I am the Walrus (koo koo kachoo!)
and I’m not expecting to come up with a DQ that could conceivably be it.

Did JFK appoint you to the Supreme Court? - Byron “Whizzer” White
Were you a high school chemistry teacher who had an interesting second career? - Walter White, on Breaking Bad
Was Matthew Harrison Brady your fictional doppelganger? - William Jennings Bryan, in Inherit the Wind
Aaaaand: Are you Horace Wimp?
Aaaoooooh… Werewolf of London
David Watts

Will take a guess tomorrow morning
